Out of the four majors players we signed this off-season, Holmes, Cromartie, Tomilson, Taylor, which player do you think will contribute the most to our team and which one the least? Or number 1-4 from the most contributing to the least contributing and why.
It will be cro with all the blitzing and teams throwing away from Revis... Its his for the taking this year
It pains me, but I have to say Taylor. If he gets double digit sacks, it will make our defense almost obscenely filthy.
+1 I mean, Dolphags CS fucked him thoroughly last season, forcing him to play Sam LB (that he never played before) only on 1st and 2nd downs, and pulled him out on obvious passing 3rd downs - and JT still pulled off 7 sacks. If the phags CS didn't try to fuck him so royally like they did, JT could have easily pulled off 12~15 sacks last season. To think what he can do in Rex Ryan's scheme... makes me puke. *Yech!*
Cromartie is in the best position to make plays out of these 4, but Cromartie will help Jason Taylor to also make plays.
I hope all of the above. Cro will have the most immediate impact on our d especially against heavy passing teams. Holmes will immediately make the O better by not only opening up the surrounding receivers, but will command respect to not have 8 defensive players in the box.
Taylor. I know this is an unpopular choice but I can see this guy really flourishing in this defense. Rushing the QB is Job #1 this year, IMO. He's a showboat, for sure, but knows his days in the spotlight are dwindling. For that reason I think he'll gve 120% on every play he's in and contribute a lot (and get the help he needs doing it). I just hope our stupid fans can get over all the past baggage and root for this guy instead of boo him every time he comes on the field. If he sacks Tom Brady a few times, I'll kiss his ass in Macy's window on New Year's Eve.
Holmes is a big time playmaker, so I'm hoping it's him. I would love to see Sanchez to have some huge games this year. We're still waiting on his first 300 yard game, his game is still 272 from week 1.
1) This is tough, but I have to give it to Cromartie. Having another possible shutdown corner really allows our defense to do a lot more things. 2) Holmes should affect our offense in a similar way, opening up the game plan and giving us more room to run as well as moving an inferior defender onto Cotchery. 3) If Taylor works hard I'm hoping he will have an impact on the defense. With our corner play he should have plenty opportunity for some sacks, or at least some QB pressure that could result in some bad decisions or TOs. 4) I'm not sure how LT will play out this year, but I'm hoping he will at least help to develop both Greene and McKnight, while helping Sanchez develop his check down passing. If he runs for 800 yards and 8 TDs that's just gravy.
Cromartie is the only one slotted to start out of the 4 players listed. He's also going to easily see the most action out of all of them, playing opposite Revis. Holmes will be suspended for 4 games, and will have to be worked into the rotation in game 5 and beyond. He may change some games for us, but it will likely only be for the second half of the season. Taylor and LT will be situational players, role play support. They may rack up some stats, but neither will come close to the impact that Cromartie has.
Cro was basically benched in SD and kicked off the team. Yes, great 2007 season. Yes, bad 2009 season, that's why we got him. Cro can go either way. Would love to see him with 10 picks, but would not be surprised to see Wilson as #2 by mid-season. Holmes on the other hand is the best receiver on our team with a young gun sanchez throwing the rock.
