I like them as an announcing duo. Remember when there was Dennis Miller, Dan Fouts and Al Michaels in the booth? Fouts never had a clue what Miller was talking about.
Presumably they're being paid a ton of money, because IMO this is a gigantic step down from a prestige point of view. MNF is a pale imitation of what it once meant.
Fond memories of Howard Cossell. He was entertains if not annoying, Lol. Him and Gifford. I also like when Madden on was on MNF. They brought entertainment beyond the game itself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
MNF is like the Star Wars movies. It's impossible to understand just how monumental they were when they first happened if you weren't there - they completely changed the rules, and altered American entertainment forever in fundamental ways. As with all things, the original excitement wears off, and the attempt to settle into stable success follows. It lasts for a while, but eventually the rest of the world catches up, and the idiotic attempts to attract notice (Jar Jar Binks, Dennis Miller) crash and burn. The best you can hope for ultimately is that the franchise doesn't get embarrassed into oblivion. That's what Buck and Aikman are for from ESPN's point of view.
I like Buck and Aikman as announcers as douchey as they both are. I’m curious to see if ESPN does what they always do with new talent when they sign them on and that’s run them through the ringer all week with radio and talk show appearances. It’s unconfirmed but it was lingering out there that it’s one of the reasons that kept Romo away aside from money. I doubt either want to run that gauntlet every week so I’m wondering if they had that written out of their contract and they can just show up on Sunday night and do the game on Monday without all the BS.
I bet Fox replaces Buck with Kevin Burkhardt. He's a solid announcer with a better Q factor than Buck. He's also a helluva nice dude...
Yeah I agree, its kinda ashame they wont be doing the games on FOX anymore. MNF is mostly hot garbage games all year.
