I know I just made one of these a week ago, but I've been thinking about this all week trying to put together a great mock for the team and I think I've finally come up with one. this will be my last one, I'll probably do one at the end of the season or maybe during the combine, that way I'll have a better chance at gauging the talent.

I have a few things to shake up the draft:

    - Trade Shonn Greene for a 4th round pick, I think a team would give us a 4th for him, or possibly a 5th.

    - DO NOT RESIGN DUSTIN KELLER! you'll see why in my draft, he's gonna be asking for too much money and our cap is gonna be a nightmare.

    - sign a veteran quarterback to back up Sanchez. Mark will be our QB next year, it's time the fans start realizing that. We have to build this team around Sanchez.

    - get rid of Tim Tebow, Bart Scott, Bryan Thomas, Yeremiah Bell and Brandon Moore. these guys are either: old, not playing up to their abilities or getting too much money than they deserve. I would throw Pace in there too, but we are gonna need him for depth at the LB position.

    - I think we will win either 1-2 more games the rest of the season, putting us at 5-11 or 6-10. either way we will get a top 10 pick, I say around the 7-9 range. what I would do, especially if Te'o isn't on the board is trade back to 14-16 range, get a few seconds and thirds, and possibly even trade back further to the 22-25 range to get more picks. this way we can try to draft all our needs. we can still get great value at the bottom of the first round.

    Let's begin.

    ROUND 1

    1. Jake Matthews (OT, Texas A & M) - it's no surprise we need OLine help, especially at RT. Matthews is a big strong guy, excellent in run blocking and is also solid at stopping the pass rush. we've been on a carousel at RT and Matthews is an immediate starter at the position.

    ROUND 2

    2. Louis Nix (DT, Notre Dame) - I see a lot of mocks that have Nix going in the first round, it's very possible. but with us getting an early pick in the second, maybe he drops to us. I love the way Nix plays, he's explosive at stopping the run he can break through the OLine in seconds to get to the QB. he also has a great personality, someone I see being a leader for this team in the locker room. DT has been an issue for us. Ellis is always getting hurt, same with Pouha and he isn't getting any younger. Nix comes in and immediately shuts down the opposing run game, something that has been a huge issue for us this season.

    2. Andre Ellington (RB, Clemson) - I know a lot of Jets fans want Bernard, but I just don't see how we get him. Ellington is a back that fits our team perfectly. he has great speed and from the tape I watched he's a guy who fights for yards and doesn't go down easily. He has great balance and always finds an opening. Ellington pounding the ball behind Jake Matthews is cash money. he's also a solid receiver, great for screens - something I hope the Jets offense utilizes more next season.

    2. Chase Thomas (OLB, Stanford) - Chase is one of my favorite players in this draft. he has a phenomenal motor, in on most plays. he finds ways to cause turnovers and is a great blitzer off the edge. he reminds me a lot of Clay Matthews. we would be getting him mid-2nd, I don't think we would have a problem getting him, unless his stock raises a lot.

    ROUND 3

    3. Larry Warford (G, Kentucky) - aside from Bama's guards, Warford is my favorite guard in the draft. with Moore gone, we need someone to fill in. for his size he is very quick and has great pass protection skills. would be an immediate starter for us and our newly improved OLine.

    3. Joseph Fauria (TE, UCLA) - 1/2 TE's I have the Jets drafting. Fauria is a solid receiver and can set blocks if needed. someone I see Sanchez having instant chemistry with.

    ROUND 4

    4. Jackson Jeffcoat (DE, Texas) - Jeffcoat was recently injured and is out for the season and can go anywhere from the 2nd to the 5th round, he has 1st round value. he has been inconsistent in his pass rushing, but this is something the Jets can work on with him. we are breeding two monster DE's at the moment. one thing I really love about JJ is his burst off the edge. he would be a project for us, but in the 4th round that's a risk I wouldn't mind taking.

    4. Emory Blake (WR, Auburn) - Blake is a receiver I like a lot. He's a real threat down field and can play a role similar to Kerley, if needed. he has amazing speed, and with the Jets using the moniker "Speed Kills" he will fit right in. he has great hands, I've seen this kid make some catches that would make you rub your eyes in disbelief.

    ROUND 5

    5. Lamarcus Joyner (S, Florida State) - Joyner is a bit undersized for the safety position, but with us letting Bell go we need to add some depth to the position. he does a lot on special teams and can create turnovers.

    ROUND 6

    6. Marcus Lattimore (RB, South Carolina) - say hello to our new ground and pound attack, Ellington/Lattimore. Marcus was having a great season until he got injured, he was destined to be the first RB gone, but now he's going to fall anywhere from 5-FA. the Jets getting him the 6th would be an absolute robbery. he's a fast back who is injury prone, but that's a risk I'm willing to take.

    ROUND 7

    7. Philip Lutzenkirchen (TE, Auburn) - I saw a few people on the draft boards having us take him in the 7th and I loved the idea. Lutz is a player I like a lot, along with Fauria we could have our Gronk/Hernandez combo. He has great hands and is solid in run blocking. I see him as a red zone target for Sanchez.

Not to be a dick but,

Why do people keep mocking Lattimore to the Jets in the 6th round? First off, the guy is more than likely coming back to S.C. and even if he didn't there's no way he'd last until the 6th round... It makes it hard to take these mocks seriously.

I liked your first pick though, I'd be very happy with Matthews as the Jets first round pick.

I'm with you n that and discussed it in lax's mock. If he is healthy enough to draft or seen as able to work out he's not falling that far.

    As for the mock:

Shonn Greene is not worth a 4th. He was a 3rd rounder when he was young and lacked the obvious injury bugs and had not proven to be mediocre at best. Not only that but he is a free agent this offseason. He has no trade value.

This mock includes far too many trade backs to pick up multiple second and third round picks. It looks a lot more like a wish list than any thing else. We are not going to luck into filling all our holes in one offseason.

I didn't know Greene was FA, that was an error on my part.

I see what you guys are saying about Lattimore, but this mock is more of a what if the draft was tomorrow kind of thing. It's hard to gauge the talent like I said at this point. if he is 100%, I don't see how he would go in the 6th either. but as of right now, Lattimore has fallen in the ranks.

Fr your trades try to consult the value chart. I think you have us picking up far too many picks in value.

I tend to try be cautious with value if I do a mock. We all know Lattimore's skills when healthy and it makes sense that a team like Jacksonville or the Titans who need to replace aging start backs could take a flyer on him in the 4th or 5th just as easily.

Matthew's is going to be a top 15 pick. I don't see us landing him after two trade backs. I understand wanting to get a ton of players and great values, but the chances of that are slim to none. Trust me there is around 30 guys every year that I would love for us. Sadly I'll be lucky if we draft 3 or 4 of them.

Trade David Harris for a couple picks. He's aging and definitely not worth 13 mil?

    Love the Matthews pick.
But Warford wont be there in the 3rd round.
Can 't go DT this year on a 2nd round pick. What if Ellis & Pouha DONT get hurt next year? We have way to many glaring needs to use a 2nd round pick for a "just in case" scenario.

Pouha is too old. he's gonna be 34 in February. we could maybe get Louis Nix in the third, but it's tough to say right now. I also tend to agree with you on Warford. I struggled pinning him in the 3rd, it's a bit of a reach.

Pouha doesnt have a lot of wear on him. He backed up Kris Jenkins for a few years when he was here. This lower back thing was an isolated injury in his career. He's got 2 years left.
My point is that with so many holes on this roster, It would be horrible to spend a 2nd round pick on Nix only on the assumption that Kenrick Ellis "possibly" gets injured. We can find a free agent this offseason to fill that substitute role.
Our 2nd round pick HAS to step in to a starting role next year -- without question. This team has 35% of the starting positions being occupied by players who are average on their best day.
