The Jets must trade way down ,they cannot afford a#4, but who can afford to move up, this a dire matter for all teams.

I dont think they'll trade down the #4 pick, but if we were to get #9(detroit), or #15(atlanta) i can see us trading down that pick

We will definetly trade Abe, he doesnt want to be a jet, the jets dont want him... We will trade John Abraham, most likely him & a 3rd round pick for a 1st round pick

Deffinately were tradin Abe were not giving him a long term deal and were not letting him go in free agency so were gonna trade him and get good 1st rounder off of him.

We're under the cap, and they're probably going to make some more cuts on June 1. I don't think they're going to have any problems signing the #4 pick.

Actually, everyone is going to have trouble signing 1st round picks. With no CBA extention, signing bonuses must be prorated over 4 years, not 7. This will make it very difficult for high 1st round rookies to sign contracts comparable to previous years.

and so they'll hold out during the beginning (like the majority of high picks have over the past few years) and then just sign a deal if they really care about playing, basically they aren't going to get the money in previous years, and same goes for UFA's on the market, but that doesn't mean people aren't going to be playing

yea, what the hell was he thinking with a thread title like "new cap numbers" and then having pretty much nothing to do with tthe new cap numbers as his post? i dont understand how f*ckin hard it is to make a title that actually desrcibes what is in the thread.

maybe somethign like "jets need to trade down" wouldve been a bit more appropriate. or even "no money for first roudners" or something.

If there is not a new CBA, there will not be any june 1 cuts. There would be no benefit to cutting people after 6/1 if there is not a new cba. People will just be cut now as the cap hits would be the same.

My best guess of how much we're under is 8-9M. I say this because we were supposively under with Coles/Ellis/Moore restructuring. Now that Kendall extended (and hence lowered his cap #) Mawae being cut, and Pennington taking a 3M salary instead of the 9 he was due... That's my guess. However, since Pennington has 6M of incentives.. we need to be careful. If he hits them, the $ comes onto the 2006 cap instantly (if there is no CBA) and could be a problem.

  19. And in your opinion where does this leave us in terms of signing draft picks and acouple solid FA's? Is it possible/ideal?
