http://deadspin.com/371770/source-canseco-accuses-a+rod-of-steroid-abuse-wife-coveting-in-new-book Well this should be interesting. Edit: FUCK why do i submit new threads without making sure I spell names correctly. mods, please fix this.
The credibility of this has already been questioned since there is no evidence. He didn't introduce ARod to steroids either, he introduced him to a supplier. Canseco is a total douche. I love how he claims to want to clean up baseball. What? After you ripped off your former teams and fans? Asshole. As for ARod, I don't think I'd be very shocked if it eventually came out that he did. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised by anyone. Is there really anyone who is, and always has been, clean?
haha i could write a book about arod doing steroids and mine would probably more credible than cansecos
The thing is, while it's nowhere close to proof I think people should remember how horrifyingly right Canseco was before in his first book about PEDs in the MLB. Based on character he has no real credibility, but it does help his case that his last book turned out to be very accurate. It's funny how Canseco likes to frame himself as some sort of quasi good guy in the fight against 'roids. Of all the people in the MLB in the late '90s', he is arguably more responsible for the PEDs culture that developed that any other single figure.
http://deadspin.com/372153/the-excerpts-from-vindicated-about-alex-rodriguez this website had excerpts from the book but they had to take them down. anyways, i read a good portion of the book and from an unbiased standpoint it is one of the biggest pieces of trash i have ever read. it looks like it has been written by a 7th grader and was never edited. on one page he starts about 9 sentences with "and" and talks about how arod tried to bang his wife. the dialogue and stories sounded ridiculous and i find it hard to beleive anyone will take this book seriously. i guess youll just have to read it yourself.
His last book was accurate but i find it hard to believe that if AROD actually took steriods, he was never implicated before. When he was having his magical season last year People would have tore him down with accusations but still. If it is true, it completley tarnishes one of the only "clean" people left in the game
I find it pretty funny. He says in this book he introduced him to a steroids dealer, a-rod tried to screw his wife on a regular basis (BTW, I think he probably did too) and that he hates A-rod's guts (He actually writes that in the book). See a pattern here?
I'm not indicting A-Rod, but Canseco has maybe a sliver of credibility after the first book. But what worries me most is that A-Rod didn't deny Canseco's claims; he just no commented. Little questionable. Though yeah, everything already said about Canseco is true.
Obviously, it's impossible to prove that a guy didn't take steroids. However, it were hypothetically possible to do so, I'd have to say that I'd be more surprised to hear that A-Rod never did steroids than to hear that he did. It just seems like it would be too big of a coincidence, than in an era where almost everyone did steroids, arguably the most elite player not named Bonds was just so talented that he was head and shoulders above everyone else naturally while everyone else was artificially inflating their talent. A-Rod certainly doesn't strike me as a 'roid head like Bonds or Sosa, but to think that he has never done even one cycle, that's too much of a stretch for me. As a Sox fan, I don't like A-Rod because he seems like a colossal jerk and because he is the MVP for the team that I hate, but I find myself defending A-Rod more times than not. People like to say he is some sort of anti-clutch magical being, the anti-Eckstein, which to me has always been total bullshit. There's zero proof he has done 'roids, and even if he did I don't see it as that big a deal, given everything that has come out recently about the MLB as a whole. (note: by saying I don't think it's a big deal, I mean if he cycled a few times. If somehow details emerged implicating him of heavy use, I would retract that assessment.)
Maybe because the last time he discussed steroids his words were twisted inside out and backwards? Now it would be naive to fully believe ARod is totally innocent. At this point, there isn't a single player I can name off the top of my head that couldn't possibly have done them. And that's the biggest problem. Again, I've heard on a number of occasions that players believe 80% of the league takes PEDs. Who knows? Maybe that number is closer to 95%. At that point, does it take some of the heat off the players who've already been caught? Or do we implicate the entire league and scrap everyone?
Arod had a career year last season. I doubt he was dumb enough to do it while all the Bonds stuff was going on. While were at it,when do we get to hear about Curt Schillings use, especially in 04. I'm sure there are/were some other Red Sox players involved with PEDs,but they have magically escaped mention. hmmmm
Out of curiosity, do you have the same opinion about Manny? He's been just as good (if not better, really) than A-Rod over the exact same timeframe. Is that also too big of a coincidence? I'm not being a smart-ass. I'm just asking.
Anybody, from here on forward, who has a good year will now always be whispered about in connection to HGH. At least until they start doing blood testing or come up with a urine test. Already there has been talk about Pujuols. I'm surprised we haven't yet heard about Prince Fielder or Ryan Howard. I'm sure it's coming.
What is there to deny? He doesn't accuse him in the book of using steroids. He said he introduced him to a steroids dealer. What does that mean? They may have been at a party and he said "alex, meet Max. Max, meet Alex". That and he tried to screw his wife. He probably did, he was single at the time. Here is what she looks like now. Can only imagine what she looked like then. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...s&sa=X&oi=image_result&resnum=1&ct=image&cd=1 There is really nothing for him to say and he is better off saying nothing.
No, thats my view on pretty much on all MLB players currently. It's sad to admit, but I'd say chances are players from the Sox are as tainted as everyone else from this era.
