Rackers has been a career Bengal and Cardinal...up until the last couple years there really hasn't been many big moments in his career

Wouldn't be a bad idea to bring him in and at least give Folk some competition.

Can't he tackle better than Feely? I remember him being a big dude. I know how much this board values a kicker that can tackle.

Only thing I like about Rackers is the guys got some fricken boot.

    Then again so does Folk.

Hopefully this means other teams will have worse starting field position, and we wont have any repeats of the disaster with Miami.

i think thats what we will miss the most from feely is his tackling abilities. but then again he also used to cost us contain by running up the field trying to make the tackle instead of sitting back and being the last line of defense. makes you wonder if he did that during that miami game would ted ginn jr of ran back those two kickoffs. doesnt seem like a big deal now but if we win that game it very well might of won us the division.

Westhoff isn't relying on our kicker to contain Ted Ginn...it was an added luxury that he sometimes made a tackle, not a necessity.

I don't have a huge problem with Rackers, but I don't understand being interested in him ahead of Feely. Although as I've said before, I struggle to really give very much of a fuck about kickers.

I don't think anybody here has ever met Rackers in person, I have no idea if he's an asshole or not. Used to kicking indoors? With which team, Arizona or Cincy? Huh? Folk must be garbage, Rackers wouldn't be heading to NY if he was only offered a chance to compete. You bring in a college kid to compete for a kicking job, not a high profile free agent.

So Feely most likely went to Arizona for less money than Rackers would accept, and this also is a strong inference that the Jets offered Rackers more than Arizona's offer. Senseless, unless they got a good look at Folk and figured out he's not going to make it, and had to press the panic button. Total clusterfuck.

I'd rather use the cash and go after another player.

Rackers is more than a one-year wonder, he was 16/17 last year and 25/28 in 2008. He's not what he was in '05, but is still a solid kicker if Folk's head still isn't on straight.

Eventually this plan of replacing as many players on this team as possible with marginally better players is going to backfire, big time.
