So this past week I played a friend of mine twice in Madden...I won the 1st game 31-24, then he won 24-17.

My gripe? He rushed for over 200 yards in BOTH game with DeShaun Foster and DeAngelo Williams combined, Foster being the feature guy. It's the formation "Full House" he'll have Brad Hoover on the right, Foster back, and Kris Mangum on the left...It's a counter lead with the RG pulling as well, just dominating the left side.

I use the Jets, and the 3-4. With my updates, it's aligned DRob-Moore-Ellis, and he's running at my strong side since Thomas and Barton are over there...I control Rhodes now, pretty well I might add, and play close to the box but still behind the LB's just incase it's a PA...

Once he snaps the ball I command my linebackers to go to the left, and he'll go up the middle for 5 yards a pop, and sometimes on the HB Dive, he can bust it for 40 yards if the blocking is right. So, what to do? I usually bring in my DLine and now will try bringing in my LB's to just jam the middle, but that run formation is killing me...

Any help is fine. I can play closer with Rhodes because I know Keyshawn won't burn Dyson, but I give up the size, and Miller is on Smith but with safety help from Coleman or Eric Smith, pending on who I feel better with.

I usually play a 3-4 Normal, but once I get run on, I try other plays in the 3-4 Under or 3-4 over...

Yah, I know what you mean some of those counters just work too easy, the only thing I can think of, is use Chicago's play book, or Baltimore's which has the 3-4, but it also has the 4-3 and 46. Try some of those.

And commit to run when your sure hes going to run. ( L2 and down when he hikes the ball, be careful if it is a playaction this wont be too good)

what i would do is....pre snap, motion my D-line play side, and slide IN my LBs, and i would control vilma, slide him back so he can read and react, and he won't get sucked up into a block, and strafe towards the run play, wat i do, is force any run play not back to the inside, but to the outside, because in madden, D-lineman tend to stand around as if they were retarded, so i force it to the outside, and then switch to the CB or S near the play and make the tackle, the vast majority of the time, there will be 2 men over on the side, I go head on with the RB and take him out, this is on ALL MADDEN

I always commit when I know he's running, but I usually commit to the left and then he just shifts his way to the middle and gets 5 yards, but if I commit to the middle, he'll bust it outside for 7-10 yards.

I don't really want to use another teams defense because I like the different 3-4 looks Mangini has, and then that would mean Barton being out some plays when he is one of my best guys taking on a blocker and freeing Vilma up...I'll look at Baltimore's though.

Vilmafan...I don't think the issue is All-Madden mode, I think most everyone plays on that...It's just this running formation that I have never seen, nobody else uses this formation, MAYBE the Packers have it, but nobody I play uses Green Bay.

There really is no different looks in those playbooks, everything is the same. Except a few plays missing or somethign, there is no different looks.

3-4 wont stop it, u can try to pinch the linemen and spread the linebackers, bring coleman down like hes a lb.

i hold LT to 25 yards, and then hold Shaun Alexander to 45, but then i play ahman green and he gets 200, that makes me suck on run defense

well im a master at the run d.....use K rhodes as your highlighted player....run the Nickle 1-5-5.....its works nicely, and if they try to bounce it out, use rhodes to run him out, all your players should be fast enough to make catch him if he bounces out

Its reasons like this that make me hate madden, nickle 1-5-5 should be easy to run on.

dont be too sure...what kind of formations did Belicheck use when he was playign against Peyton a few years back....i specifically remember an arsenal of LBs and only a one DT....same package? maybe....it worked well against the run as well as the pass...speed kills my friend

nickle 155- are you kidding me, if that works that is stupid because that is a 3rd down package/pass situation. I would use a 46-or 3-4 two man under. it works for me. I bring the safetys down to blitz and i play the free safety

it works...trust me....i dont lose, can stop the run pretty well, and end up with about 5 or 6 ints by end of game...if people are still passing on me its bc they cant run, hence the package works

You are overating the All-Madden difficulty. It's never been that hard, even in past games. I use custom sliders even, and It's not that hard to win.

If you are running 3-4 the RE will get dominated and he'll have 2 lead blockers...and depending on the WR out there your CB might already be out of the play.

Did you ever audible to a diff. front? I'd go 4-3 for sure man and shift the LBs to the side he is gonan run to....then maybe user control the safety to be sure.

The 3-4 has to be what was screwing you there....I only find it useful against the pass.

i would try a 3-4 over and show blitz (triangle+left) to bring eight into the box. Control vilma because of his speed to stop the outside rush and trust your other players to stop runs on the inside. I wouldn't commit anywhere on the play in case he cuts it back.

I always put eight in the box (Y and left) and then back up vilma, so he won't get sucked up on a block, then go make the tackle.
