I know there's a fantasy forum, but I need advice tonight and that board is never active. I have the #2 waiver priority in my league, and can't decide if it's worth using on Michael Vick. The guy with the #1 priority will certainly go for Brandon Jackson, which leaves me with everyone else. Currently, I'm starting Josh Freeman as my second QB in a two-QB league (until Big Ben comes back), so thus Vick is greatly appealing. I'm pretty sure he'll start this week, with Kolb's concussion, and he has a great matchup vs Detroit. But I can't decide if it's worth using a high waiver priority on a guy who may only start a game or two. Part of me wants to save it so that the next time there's a major injury, I'll be guaranteed to get the guy's backup on waivers that week with the #1 priority. But another part of me thinks that concussions are always tricky injuries, that Vick is likely a top-10 fantasy QB when he plays, and that it might be worth it to use my priority on him just because he'll give me a much bigger chance to win this week. What do you guys think I should do? Thanks.

    Pickup and start Vick.

Avant and Maclin have mismatches and the Lions' LBs will have a hard time containing Vick.

It's only one game, but one game can mean the difference between squeaking into the playoffs or being on the outside looking in.

Plus, next time there is an injury, how will you know the guy you need to pick-up isn't already on someone's roster?

    Tough choice, since Vick has a sweet-ass matchup...plus you're in a 2-QB league.

Reid has already said that Kolb is the starter as soon as he's medically cleared, so you're right that Vick may only be truly useful for a couple of weeks. I do think, though, that he'll be a significant upgrade over Freeman at least this week. I'd roll the dice and snap him up.

Keep in mind that Vick could totally lay an egg. Even in his Falcons' heyday he had a huge ceiling, but was more likely than many other QBs to put up "meh" type stats in any given week (except in his 1000 yard rushing season...he was consistently solid then).

Vick is the play if you want to win this week but other QBs might be better for the long haul.
