The New York Jets up to this point are 2-9. This is strictly my opinion but I am going to list each starter and whether he should be kept or not.

    Offense:

QB: Kellen Clemens - Keep: Must be patient with him. Let him struggle and struggle because it will definitely help him for next season.

RB: Thomas Jones - Keep: This man needs an offensive Line

FB: Darian Barnes - Keep: Needs to be more involved

TE: Chris Baker - Keep: Needs to be more involved

LT: D'Brickashaw Ferguson: Give the man 1 more season, otherwise say adios. He is overrated right now. He has not lived up to his expecations.

LG: Adrien Clarke: He is garbage. Need a new LG in the offseason

C: Nick Mangold: Needs help around him. He stays

RG: Brandon Morre: Keep: Just gave the guy a new deal

RT: Anthony Clement: Bye Bye. Adios

    Defense:

LE: Shaun Ellis: Keep. He is the only defensive lineman I would keep

NT: Dewayne Robertson: Trade this boy for a pick or picks

RE: Kenyon Coleman: He isn't a starter. Only keep him to backup

OLB: Victor Hobson: This one is a toss up. I leave this guy up to you guys. He can go either way.

ILB: Jonathan Vilma: Trade him for a pick or picks

ILB: Eric Barton: Say bye bye. Adios

OLB: Bryan Thomas: The one year wonder. Stuck with him because of that lovely deal.

CB: Darrelle Revis: Will be our #1 eventually. Keep this boy around

CB: Andre Dyson, David Barrett: Peace out guys

FS: Kerry Rhodes: Keep. No explanation needed

SS: Eric Smith: Abram Elam: See ya later!

The Jets should build the defense around Kerry Rhodes, David Harris, and Darrelle Revis. I like Shaun Ellis and I think he just needs help with him on the line.

The Jets need a whole new offensive line basically and need a Terrell Owens/Randy Moss/Chad Johnson type reciever to complement Coles and Cotchery. Coles is not a true number 1 and Cotchery will be at best a number 2. Chris Baker can be a solid tight end if more involved.

We need a gazelle. An impala? Something like it. I was ready to cut you down about Coles not being a true #1, but as to what we have, I can't say you're off the mark. It would be nice to have a Harold Carmichael type for a tandem (dream on, jeto). Will we ever get a wideout taller than 5'2" that can catch a ball? Brad Smith is killing me, already. McIdiot, enough said.

Quite possibly the worst post I have ever seen. Let's cut/trade the ENTIRE team. Good plan. How do you suggest we replace these guys???

Judging by his explination I'd have to guess the picks we acquire in the trades to fill the voids left over. Personally I'd rather use those picks to acquire players in the draft to fill those voids but that's just me.

His list is not bad, although it has some problems, like keeping Brandon Moore just because we were foolish enough to give him a contract.

The Jets really do need a gut rebuild at this point. There are a few pieces worth keeping as the structural work goes on around them, but they are outnumbered by the people who need to go.

On the offensive side I'd keep Cotchery, Mangold, Ferguson (JAG at this point but not useless), Washington, Baker and Clemens. Coles and Jones are good players but aging and injuries will take them from us in the near future whether we want that or not.

On the defensive side you have Harris, Revis, Rhodes and not much more worth keeping. Thomas might regain his contract year form so holding on to him for a season is not a bad idea. Ellis would be okay as a 3-4 end, but you don't pay 3-4 ends what he makes and he won't take a paycut to bring it back to reality.

I see the Jets as a couple of offseasons away from respectability and the offseasons will have to be good productive ones that produce 4 or 5 starters apiece.

Yesiree this sums up what I have been saying for months & months & months. EARLIEST we will compete for the VLT is 2010 in my estimation but most likely it will be 2011 or 2012 & that is based on hitting a grand slam HR with each & every draft pick we have between now & then

    Here's my go:

    Offense:

QB: Kellen Clemens - Keep: Try Brad Smith as QB only and keep on ST if he wins a spot. Draft low round QB and pray for another Brady.

RB: Thomas Jones - Keep: But use Washington more as a change of pace and in space to utlize his speed.

FB: Darian Barnes - Keep but add competition, he's been a good FB everywhere but at the Jets.

WR: Coles, Cotch, Smith, McCareins, Wright: Keep Wright, Coles, Cotch, Stuckey(hopefully he'll get through a season without injury. Open offense up so these guys aren't getting killed on short-routes. cut McCareins and Smith if he doesn't work out at QB.

TE: Chris Baker - Keep: actually use the guy.

LT: D'Brickashaw Ferguson: Keep: The guy has had a better season than last, it's a shame some Jet's fans don't realise that the mess at RT, RG & LG has nothing to do with him.

LG: Adrian Clarke: Cut: Bad and would look even worse without D'Brick.

C: Nick Mangold: Keep: Not much else to say, not quite as good as last year but that's because of the line quality around him.

RG: Brandon Moore: Trade: This guy couldn't start for any other team in the NFL and he gets a big contract, watch any game and marvel at arguably the worst lineman on our team.

RT: Anthony Clement: Cut: Just horrible, last resort option from a year a go still getting to start.

    Defense:

LE: Shaun Ellis: Keep: Return defense back to 4-3 and hope he regains his form in the perfect set for him.

NT: Dewayne Robertson: Cut: This guy is a good situational(part-time) pass-rushing DT and perhaps the worst run defending NT the game has seen. Highest paid player on the team and nearing the end of his contract, thank god.

RE: Kenyon Coleman: Cut: Another desperate big contract signing that boggles the mind.

OLB: Victor Hobson: Release, just hasn't performed to a high enough level.

ILB: Jonathan Vilma: Trade : Looks like injuries have caught up with him and with the emergence of Harris take the pick or a new player.

ILB: Eric Barton: Keep as a back-up to Harris for the right money, always useful for a turnover.

OLB: Bryan Thomas: Cut/Trade: Played his one good year for a better contract and has been hopeless ever since, another big waste of money.

CB: Darrelle Revis: Keep: Looked great at times covering Owens and has been one of the few shining lights on defense.

CB: Andre Dyson, David Barrett, Poteat: Dyson makes one bad mistake, gets blamed by Mangini in front of the media and loses his job just like that, every CB gets burnt or misses tackles. He was solid last season and could have been this season. Keep the constant overachiever Poteat.

Kerry Rhodes: Could have been pro-bowler this year if he'd been on a better team.

SS: Eric Smith, Abram Elam, E.Coleman: Keep Smith as backup.

Kicking/ST. This is the least of our worries, though maybe some competition with Graham in camp would be a good idea.

    Draft/FA Needs

    LG,RG,RT

DT,DE,OLB,SS,CB(Knew the defense was bad but not this bad. It's not in transition from the 4-3 to 3-4, it's on the way to being the worst Defense in Jets history.

I had to post again....I read through johnnysd's list again...comical. and what makes it so comical is you make fun of the original poster and then you post your list......you even admit to some guys not being that good but say "oh well, who else are we gonna get" what is wrong with you...??? so we should just keep everyone because we wont be able to find replacements???? you deserve the Jets more than any of us....and they deserve you

I think he meant replacing everyone in problematic areas is not feasible because there are so many of them. As for the "Oh well, who else are we going to get..." comment, that stems from the frustration created by our management sucking.
