I think that the reason that people are so divided on TGG is because of how they think a rebuild should start. I want to show you the distributions of the starting QBs, RBs, and LTs this year by round they were drafted.

    QBs

    15 1st Round
    3 2nd Round
    1 3rd Round
    2 4th Round
    1 5th Round
    4 6th Round
    1 7th Round
    1 8th Round
    1 9th Round
    3 Undrafted

    LTs

    17 1st Round
    5 2nd Round
    6 3rd Round
    1 4th Round
    0 5th Round
    0 6th Round
    1 7th Round
    2 Undrafted

    RBs

    14 1st Round
    5 2nd Round
    6 3rd Round
    3 4th Round
    0 5th Round
    1 6th Round
    0 7th Round
    2 Undrafted

The reason I use this is to show you that compared to the other positions the starting QB has the most by far from the second day of the draft. Those late round QBs have succeeded is the same way I want to rebuild. They have a complete team ready for them. There are a bunch examples of guys who just came from the scrapheap or rookies to lead their team which includes Tom Brady, Ben R., Jake Delhomme, Randell Cunningham when the Vikings went 15-1 when he was long past his prime, Warner who was the SB MVP, etc.

I believe we need to trade down, the Cutler supporters always ask if at 4, how can you past the franchise QB, and I can say the same thing, at 4 how can you select a QB when we can possibly add two or 3 starters to our team for a long time with one pick, it is like asking whether to choose between Dan Marino, or Barry Sanders and Kevin Mawae, and for me I would choose the 2 players over the 1 anyday, where we may not get a chance like that for a long time. Everyone likes to credit the success of the team to the QB, but even though they touch the ball every play they are the most dependent of any position on the football field. While the oline is dependent on each other, the RB is dependent on the oline/FB to create holes and the QB to pass it to him, and the WR/TE is dependent on the QB to pass it to him, the QB has to depend on the oline/RB/TE to protect him, the RB for keeping the defense on their toes, while giving him the ability to playaction, and the WR/TE has to actually catch the ball for him. While it is true that the "franchise QB" can lead you to a SB, that is only true if his team is talented enough to get him there, because without the team to lead, the QB can do nothing.

Trading down is still my favorite option, but if we trade down, and Cutler is still there, I'd have to take him. And if we're not trading down, Cutler is my choice.

if cutler is there-you take him.
if young is there and cutler's not-you take him.
if both are there-you take Young.
if neither are there-you take D'brick.

OL, and RB are more important IMHO...OL essetially ensure that the QB can stay upright and make the throws at this level 80% of the QB's can get the job done provided they have time back there...look at Manning in the playoffs he looked like crap when the OL didn't hold up...a QB is as good as how much time he's given back there to make the play
