Many a mock indicate that Cherilus won't make it to the Jets at #36. They show him taken by either the Phins, Rams, or Chiefs (and the Raiders might be looking for an OT in the 2nd). The Giants won the Superbowl, so it's it not like they have a ridiculous amount of pressure on them in the draft. Assuming Cherilus is available when the Jints pick @ 32, here's my proposed trade: Giants 1st (32nd overall) & 4th (127th) for our 2nd (36th) & a 4th (let's say 100th). Points wise, it's nearly identical (32 = 590, 127 = 45, 635 total, vs 36 = 540, 100 = 100, 640 total). They move down 4 spots from the 1st to the second round, but move up from the bottom of the 4th to near the top of the 4th. A pretty good trade for both sides, I would think. What say you guys?
i don't like this personally. I think we can just stay put in the second round rather than trade up 5 spots and go down 28 spots in the fourth. Cherilus may still be there and even if he isn't, Carl Nicks would probably still be there, who was coached by Bill Callahan. I see him being more on the jets radar than cherilus.
Not that we need Cherilus anymore, but if he is gone before our second pick, I will guarantee that Otah or Nicks will be available and both are as good as Cherilus.
I like Cherilus, but with Woody in the fold I'd rather keep our 4th and nab someone who's more raw but with more potential at #36 like Carl Nicks or Jeff Otah.
