Trade Barton for 4th round pick FA: Joey Porter Daniel Graham Roderick Hood Leonard Davis or Marc Columbo Draft: #1: Justin Blalock #2: Tank Tyler #2: Jason Hill #3: Antonio Pittman #4: LeRon McClain Feedback welcome good or bad.
No way McCariens or Barrett get us a 4th. Maybe a 6th. I also don't think we will be that big a player in FA. You have is pursuing players in the top 3 available in each of the following positions: LB, TE, and OT. Not gonna happen. Also, I don't see us drafting Tank Tyler before the 3rd, maximum. I really don't think he's the kind of guy we would draft anyway.
this mangini player stuff is getting old. i think it is a good thing to have a player have a couple of lose screws in his head on the defense of side of the ball to an extent.
- No way we get a 4th for either Barrett or McCariens. Maybe a 5-7 for McCariens... MAYBE - I'm sick of seeing Daniel Graham in mock offseasons... But that's because I like Chris Baker. - I'd prefer a better starter than Rod Hood, but I could deal with him. - Joey Porter is a big-time trash talker and probably won't fit Mangini's system of players. I would take him though. - Either RT is good by me. - Antonio Pittman is also a good selection. - We don't have a 4th round pick (Barlow ), but we could get McClain the in 5th). Overall, I'd be somewhat satisfied with that result. - Blalock is a fine pick. - He also doesn't seem to fit Mangini's category of player, but you never know. Plus he's not a space eater (6-2 305ish) - I like the Jason Hill pick.
odd man out i guess. i mean he is good but he will want starter money and if we get porter, hobson would move inside.
1. That trade would never happen. Not Barton, not Barrett not McCariens, none of those guys would get us a 4th rounder. 2. I dont like getting Hood as our #2 cornerback. He is better than what we have now, but I would like somebody with more potential for the future and more overall talent. I am also not crazy about Porter, he would be a nice little fill in for a year or two but I think he will start to decline fast, I would also rather look somewhere in the draft for a pass-rushing OLB. 3. No way we are taking Tank Tyler. He is not a mangini guy, whether you like to hear that phrase or not, you are gonna have to. Mangini will only bring in guys with a clean repetoire, I would highly doubt Tyler comes here. Tyler also wouldn't really fit the 3-4 as he is only 306 pounds, definitely not big enough for a NT. 4. I DO like the Jason Hill pick though 5. No way Pittman falls to there. We might be able to get him with our second 2nd, but not likely in the 3rd. And getting a FB in the 4th round might be too high, plus we wont have a 4th anyway.
Not considering the FAs I think this would be some good choices. I would probably pick someone other than Hill because, while he is a great prospect, I think he duplicates what we have in Coles and Cotchery.
Barton and Kendall are very good value veterans. They are paid low and they show up and consistantly perform. They are getting older but replacing either one of them should be the last thing we worry about. Trading BArton for a damned fullback is a horrible idea IMHO. Graham and Colombo would be good signings. Porter is getting old and will be very expensive. Roderick Hood I don't know much about. Pittman will probably go top 40 since he ran a 4.4. Blaylock and Hill would be decent picks if they are available where you took them.
You have it backwards. Barton makes $3 mil a year and would probably be resigned fairly cheap when his contract is up. Hobson is in the last year of his rookie contract and will probably cost us $5 mil a year or more to resign. Also, Barton is a proven ILB, Hobson has only proven that he is too slow for OLB.
No way Hobson commands 5 mil per year...I mean, look at barton...he'll probably get 2 mil per year, with a SB that makes it 3 mil per year...but I wouldn't miss him one bit if he left.
Porter is exactly what this Jets defense needs. When they are getting roughed up you dont see vilma or kerry rhodes freaking out trying to rally the troops. They need a big, motivational son of a bitch who wont let them quit or lay down. I couldnt even tell you what one person on the Jets defense voice sounds like. They need a voice, an image, a face, Porter is it.
