We should go in a completely different direction alot of the DB's/Safeties are flopping.. So with that being said there are alot of guys from small time school that we should be looking at because there doing a hell of alot better... This guy by the name of Ladarius Webb dont know the School Ran a 4.36 that guy is a rocket then david brutton is good and i liked victor harris of Va tech... Theres so many other guys who are showing themselves... Like i mentioned earlier the big name guys are not so big now that there being exposed.... Victor Harris 6'0 192lbs CB V Tech David Brutton 6'2 205lbs S Notre Dame Louis Delmas 5'11 197lbs S western michigan Ladarius Webb 5'9 180lbs cb Nicholls State
Bruton ran a lot faster than I expected. Sean Smith is my favorite defensive player in this draft - 6'4 214 - he can play corner and safety.
I like Burton too, I like him a lot, could be an excellent middle round pick Sean Smith was my #1 Safety going into the combines and he's still my #1 Safety coming out of the combines, unless we're now projecting Jenkins to Safety as well (and I am), so now its Jenkins then Smith on my Safety board On that note, I'll ask you the same question I asked Popeye, E ... if Jenkins slid to 17 (very possible post combines in my view), would you draft him to play Safety opposite Kerry Rhodes?
I know this question is posed for E and not for me Jabba. And E knows a shitload more about the draft then I do, but I think when the Jets sign Leonard that'll take the team out of going safety in the first round...again I don't even know where Rex and the CS projects Jenkins but if they have him at safety I don't see the Jets selecting him at 17.
If Jenkins falls to 17, there is no doubt whatsoever that he has to be the pick. IMO, I don't think a slightly disappointing 40 time will hurt him that much though. What was his official time? Like a 4.55 or so? Nobody was expecting him to hit the 4.3s or anything. I think he's going to the Jaguars at #8 given how they need safety and cornerback help.
Harris doesn't fit our scheme, but he's one of my favorite players in the draft. I really think Patrick Chung could be our guy. I wouldn't be opposed to trading out of the 1st round and gaining an extra early 2nd rounder. Britt and Chung in the early 2nd would be pretty sweet.
Nah that's okay, mj, the question is open to everyone and I'm glad to hear your opinion which I value as much as anyone elses including my own Having said that, I shouldn't have discounted CB too .. PA makes a good point, if we sign Leonhard there's still the possibility of drafting Jenkins and playing him at CB opposite Revis CB Darrelle Revis S Kerry Rhodes S Jim Leonhard CB Malcolm Jenkins That could be some secondary, man hmy:
It sure would. Not to mention, we'd have two guys in the Secondary with versatility between CB and S: Jenkins and Lowery.
Many coaches see Malcolm Jenkins as a pro-bowl caliber free safety. He reminds me of Antrel Rolle...a bigger corner that has had success at safety in the pros.
Maybe. I think he'd be a stud safety or a decent CB (with Lowery going to S). All in all I think I'd prefer taking Sean Smith as a CB and move Lowery to S. Smith has a bit more speed and height than Jenkins. That could be the difference being more successful as a CB.
I've been high on Smith Myself. His versality would be huge in Rex's scheme. I'd love to see him in a Jets uni.
I favor drafting a big corner who can play safety if Lowery pans out. I think Lowery got over hyped for the first 8 games and scapegoated the rest of the way. He was never as bad or as good as fans were saying. He might still turn into a good CB and so having a Malcolm Jenkins or Sean Smith type would allow both to be on the field. I think both of those players will still be there at the 17th pick.
Maybe in the 4th round or later they might. They aren't going to be paying Sheppard over 4 million a year so they can waste a high pick on another CB.
