Jets trade the #4 pick to the Oakland Raiders for the #7 & #38 picks in the draft. #7: Jay Cutler | QB | Vandy (from Raiders) #29: Nick Mangold | C | Ohio State #35: Bobby Carpenter/Manny Lawson | OLB | Ohio St/North Carolina St #38: Eric Winston | OT | USC (from Raiders) #71: Ryan O'Callaghan | OG | California #97: Joseph Addai | RB | LSU (comp pic) #102: Jeff Webb | WR | San Diego St #116: Anwar Phillips | CB | Penn St #133: Rob Sims | OG | Ohio St #163: Johnny Jolly Jr. | DT | Texas A&M #194: Travis Williams | OLB | Auburn #200: Jason Hatcher | DE | Grambling St.
Bleh...you could have put this in the NFL Draft forum... Joseph Addai would have to burn down a retirement home the day before the draft to fall down to 97...
right theres a chance addai will be off the board before maroney.. we would be lucky to get him at 29
I don't even want Addai, I think it takes two hands to count the amount of serious injuries he's had.
In the unlikely event that we do trade with Oakland (which i HIGHLY doubt) then I would not draft the way you did. We have drafted 4 olineman, hardly any defense if not any defense at all on the first day, and i would've taken BAP at 7 not Cutler.
No way Carpenter/Winston are there at 35/38, but I would love those first 5 picks. O'Callaghan is a RT not an OG. Winston/O'Callaghan would make a SERIOUS set of bookends for a decade. And Mangond in the center plus Carpenter & Cutler? This would be a dream draft (notwithstanding what others said about Addai not falling that low, etc). But it would take a dream to make it happen b/c it ain't happening in reality.
Mangold in the first is a stretch IMO. I for 1 like the trade down and the selection of Cutler, Bobby Carpenter will be gone before 35, If Winston can get past the Giants at 25 he'd be a good pick. I cant see getting an OT so high in the first, so I'd let Brick go somewhere else as well.
Mangold is no stretch in the first (unless a mock has him in the top-20). If he lasts to the end of round one, he'll get scooped up by Pittsburgh in a heartbeat. Having Mawae for the better part of a decade we took for granted how important it is to have a top-notch center. It was a painfull rude awakening when he went down.
I have been hearing talk lately that we could trade down further and still get Cutler, like to 12 or so...also, I am against that trade down I think, I want Ferguson at 4. I agree with Mangold at 29, and the LB at 35, sure, but if we don't reade like I hope we dn't, we'd have to take Winston there or lose out on him. By the time we get to 71 and 97 I am willing to bet that O'Callaghan and Addai will both be gone, Joseph Addai long before 97. And if you want a WR in late round 3 or early 4, I think Greg Jennings from Western Michigan would be the best bet, if he's still there.....
NO way addai would drpp that LOW ... he can be gone before we pick at 29th ... but that draft isnt that bad .. besides cutler .. i like all the picks
Everything I've heard on Winston was that he would translate better as a RT in the NFL, and you're pretty set there. I could be wrong though.
yes he would but he wouldnt drop that low .. he'll be gone by 20 or maybe even at 15 so either trade down from 4th overall ... or trade up from 29th overall
O'Callaghan may end up being better fit for guard than tackle, IMO. LT- Adrian Jones LG- Pete Kendall C- Nick Mangold RG- Ryan O'Callaghan RT- Eric Winston that line is solid for years to come
#7: AJ Hawk | LB | Ohio State (from Raiders) - I think that he will play ILB in the 3-4 and OLB in the 4-3 #29: Nick Mangold | C | Ohio State #35: Bobby Carpenter/Manny Lawson | OLB | Ohio St/North Carolina St #38: Eric Winston | OT | USC (from Raiders) #71: Ryan O'Callaghan | OG | California #97: Joseph Addai | RB | LSU (comp pic) #102: Jeff Webb | WR | San Diego St #116: Anwar Phillips | CB | Penn St #133: Rob Sims | OG | Ohio St #163: Johnny Jolly Jr. | DT | Texas A&M #194: Travis Williams | OLB | Auburn #200: Jason Hatcher | DE | Grambling St.
