4) Jay Cutler, QB, Vanderbilt 29) Marcus McNeill, OT, Auburn 35) Manny Lawson, DE/OLB, NC State 71) Greg Eslinger, OC, Minnesota 97) Jason Avant, WR, Michigan Jay CUtler, who i know alot of you think is a JP Losman, Boller clone is IMO a great QB who if he had been on Leinart's team in his position would have done just as well as not better. As I have explained in other posts, he himself made some good SEC teams look bad. When he threw with some great WRs at the Senior Bowl, everyone saw how well he did. Marcus McNeill. One of the top lineman in the draft, who will be there at 29. Enough said. Manny Lawson is a great player who when we go 4-3 can line up as a DE and rush the passer, and in 3-4 can be a dominant OLB. He has so much upside its not even funny. Eslinger is one of the top centers in the draft, behind Mangold. He gives us a young center to develop behind TEague. I don't have that much faith in Katnik, but he can come in if they get injured or they stink it up. I love Avant, like my 1.0 version. I think he will be available at 97 and can give us the deep threat we lack, as well as the WR who isn't afraid to take some contact and WANTS really badly to get open.
Didn't Avant run like a 4.7 or something. Not saying he can't be a great Pro because I think Anquan Boldin proved to us speed is overrated...but a deep threat? I actually like the middle 3 picks and of course you know my opinion of Cutler.
- McNeil is the best RT in the draft IMO. - Manny Lawson adds much needed speed to the 3-4 OLB position - Gotta love the Eslinger pick... - I don't care what Avant ran in the 40... I wish everyone would stop using that as a reason to avoid him. He is not a deep threat by any means, but he's a tough possesion reciever with great hands and will really add something to this recieving core. - I wouldn't mind taking a risk on Cutler, especially considering the way the rest of the draft turns out. For the first time this year I've seen a mock draft that I'd be completely satisfied with. Nicely done.
I'm not knocking Avant because he ran a slow time. I'm just saying I wouldn't take him and expect him to be our deep threat.
I wasn't reffering to your comments about Avant. It just seems a lot of people don't like him because of his 40 time.
I hate the Cutler pick. If the pick HAS to be a QB, gotta go Leinart or Young. Cutler isnt worthy of a 4th overall pick. Hes barely a 1st rounder in my opinion. As for Avant, i rather have Mike Hass. That man has hands, we need another super possession gonna get creamed over the middle ALA Wayne Chrebet(not making that comparison because they are white) type player.
Avant isn't a deep threat, but the guy just doesn't drop the god damn ball. He's like a black, more athletic Wayne Chrebet.
