I'm going to make this short but sweet, I know there are a lot of could be's and would be's that can and may float around but if you really look back at this season other than the Chargers game, we were in every last single one of these games. The JETS SHOULD BE 7 - 1 and running away with the AFCE. But TOO many missed opportunities, especially against the Patriots and Raiders have undermined that opportunity. Be that as it may, I'm still happy we are in the position we are in to contend for the top spot in the division. Now, if we do not shoot ourselves in the foot, and can limit our injuries, I think this team is finally starting to mesh, maybe we can bring it home and take the AFCE. It won't be easy because in MY eyes the Bills are still the team to beat in this division, NOT the Patriots and Miami is looking pretty good, Penny and The Tuna has made the Phins a better team. We can beat the Rams if we don't beat ourselves and other than the Titans, we have a chance to storm through the rest of this marshmallow schedule and end this season 12 - 4. The weather is getting cooler and this is NOT the run defense of the past few seasons and we all know if you cannot run the ball, you cannot win too many football games. Let's see how things go, I've been wrong before but I like our chances of taking the division. Oh BTW, I lied I tried making it short but sweet but could not.
as long as the jets are still a team there will always be a wouda shoulda couda thread..... but not today jil
True, very true. But you see where I'm going with this? Instead of being in a 3 way tie, we could be alone 2 games ahead in the standings. The possibilities. But again all and all, I'm happy we're contending for the division as opposed to an after thought at the 1/2 way point.
Just to play devil's advocate - I bet every team in the AFC East could say the same thing. With the way the NFL is today each team in the AFC East could look at 1-2 plays and they could have won two more games than their current record.
sad but true. My friend calls it "jet math".When we start winning the games we are supposed to win, we will be a team that can do something special. Until then, we are on a roller coaster ride.
If Miami had sacked Favre instead of allowing that desperation heave on 4th down, they would have beaten the Jets. If Belicheck didn't call that timeout last night right before Cassell successfully converted on 4th down, the Patriots could have beaten the Colts. That's two right there for our rivals in the division. Every team can play this would've-could've game.
Agreed, Hence the title. I was just waxing philosophically the possibilities had we not BLOWN those 2 games. But instead if this being a SAME 'OLE JETS Post, I'm just wondering what could have been and saying even though we did blow it we're STILL right in there and hopefully, just HOPEFULLY this win yesterday is our turning point.
The Jets SHOULD BE 5-3. Good teams find ways to win games, bad teams find ways to lose games. The Jets have done both this year and deserve thier record. We need work on our Pass D as far as the underneath stuff goes. The PAss rush and run D are amazing and among the tops in the league. Offensively, we can use a lot of work. When we find a rythem and Jones is runnign well everything clicks, but if the running game is held down our Passing attack is not what one would have hoped comming into this season. The O-line is much improved, but still lacks push against elite front 7's. We can still win this divison and/or make the playoffs, but we must continue to play more games like we did against the bills and less of them like we did against the Raiders.
If we went into Buff 6-1 or 5-2, who knows if we would have played the way we did. The win yesterday made up for the Raider game
