Forgive the redundance if theres anyone who has touched on this already, but this was the first thing that came to my mind after the game had ended. Before that false start penalty on the 4th and 7 from the 32 yard line...You're down by 10 points with roughly 6:20 to go in the game and you're gonna go for it. Very simply, why do we have a kicker. Do you mean to tell me that we have a kicker that can't even attempt a 49 YARD FIELD GOAL? Nugent is completely worthless. I'm not just mad at the game, I'm more just puzzled over how we have this guy for field goals that the halftime contestants can hit and for kickoffs that are lucky to get past the 10 yard line. And please for anyone following up, don't tell me remember what Hester did last week or say anything about the wind. The wind was blowing towards that end zone as shown by the punts during the afternoon and its not like we're talking about an inconceivable field goal try. Its just a waste. So please let me hear about the 101 reasons the rest of you thought this was an excusable decision.
It still bothers me that we couldn't score a damn point the whole game. Especially after driving the ball down their throats in the 1st half
Actually, quite a few people have commented on what an amazing insult to Nugent it was that he wasn't given a chance to kick it. Either Mangini is correct in his low opinion of Nugent (in which case Nugent is not a competent NFL kicker, especially given his poor kickoffs), or Mangini is treating him totally unfairly in not even giving him a chance. Since we're not there in practice, it's impossible for us to know which is the correct possibility.
