I just participated in a 7 RD Mock over the past few weeks with 32 seperate GM's ... I GM'ed the Jets ... and I took Mario Williams at #4 after Bush, Cutler and Leinart went 1, 2 and 3 ... that was before the Saints acquired Brees

Here's the complete haul I had for the Jets, with a projected Comp 3 and 7

RD 1: - DE Mario Williams
RD 2: - RB Laurence Maroney
RD 3: - OT Joe Toledo
RD 3: - OG Mark Setterstrom
RD 4: - TE Tony Scheffler
RD 4: - QB Ingle Martin
RD 5: - OC Chris Chester
RD 6: - OT Derek Morris
RD 7: - WR Todd Watkins
RD 7: - LB Dale Robinson
RD 7: - DT Sir Henry Anderson

Dude, that's not even funny. If the Jets draft even approached that, I'd probably pass out from excitement.

Are Toledo and Setterstrom guys that could compete for the starting jobs this season or would they have to develope over time?? I feel we need to draft O-linemen capable of starting right away.

Not a huge Maroney fan, but that's good value.

Toledo's would be like our Jones pick two years ago, but at RT. I dont know that hed be able right away...I think he needs some further development before he can step in

    I'd be satisfied...

Just a question, who do you think the Saints will take at #2 if they stay? I'm in the midst of a mock draft

Jabba, I'm glad you picked up on Ingle Martin. I think he can start in this league.

I think they should pick AJ Hawk but I think they are more likely to take D'Brickashaw Ferguson.

A lot of people have them taking Mario Williams now, but I just don't see it with Grant and Smith at the ends already.

P.S. Jabba - I do believe Fleming indirectly called you out in the NY Jets forum, criticizing picking Joe Toledo...and saying Maroney won't be available in the second round.

I know someone like you doesn't care what a moron like Fleming says, just thought it was interesting and certainly no coincidence.

I'd take Mario Williams because I don't believe in passing on 295 Pound IMPACT DE's unless I already have two of the same .. and while the Saints have two nice DE's, they don't have anything that approaches what Mario Williams can become .. this cat comes in a Reggie White/Bruce Smith package

Having said that, I can see where one might feel funny about taking a DE on a team with a gazillion needs, none of which are DE ... so if I had to pass on Williams, and I didn't want to take a QB either because they just signed Brees, and there are no trades allowed in the mock, I would have to make the bold move and draft Vernon Davis at #2 Overall

It would be a controversial pick because Davis is a TE ... that might be the highest a TE has ever been selected ... but I wouldn't fear making that pick because the objective is to snatch a GREAT PLAYER in that spot if at all possible, and I'd be very confident I accomplished that mission with Davis

If you look at my overall TOP 20 {GH's thread} that pick is also consistant with my overall rankings

    1. Bush
    2. Mario
    3. Davis

So if I don't want to take Mario, Davis is third on my list

PS. I suppose you can't really go wrong with Hawk or Brick in that spot either, if that's who you prefer

Doesn't bother me, Rambo ... he's entitled to his opinion

It was a mock draft {32 GM's} and Maroney fell to me in RD 2, so what was I supposed to do, pass on Maroney because it won't happen on draft day?

As for Toledo, 340 Pound OT with quick feet and strength ... raw, but a huge upside

Last year I gave the board Todd Herremans as my sleeper OT ... Eagles drafted him in {RD 4?} and he started a few games as a middle round rookie ... this year Joe Toledo is my sleeper ... if I'm wrong, won't be the first time

It is similar to Jones because both are converted TE's, but I like Toledo better than Jones at the same stage of the game because Toledo is 337 Pounds while Jones was like 280-285 when we drafted him ... so in terms of size Jones needed at least a year in the weight room, while Toledo has NFL SIZE right now

    Jabba,

I know you knew I was GM of the Colts in our Draft. First, thx for being Commish and running the Draft, awesome job. Great Picks........IMO, the great steals, besides LM....Morris and Watkins were gems so late.

My Jet Mock gives you a run for your money:

Thanks for your nice comment, I have alot of respect for your opinions. My Jet mock, didn't have comp picks, so I had a few less than you :)

I would like this draft alot, for me Williams and Hawk are almost interchangeable at 4, Personally I go Hawk but either way. The rest looks solid, Maroney in the 2nd, as my number 3 rated RB is awesome. Do not knoe much about TRoldeo but size looks good and I will take your word for it

We're supposed to be rebuilding. Don't expect us to go 11-5 this year.
