So I was thinking about how we love to use Brad Smith doing everything, kick return coverage, hb option, receiving, shoe shinning, party planner, etc. So in that spirit I would love to recommend a guy who is perfect in that regard to versatility who is not particularly fast or a great playmaker (well hypothetically anyone can do that for like a play) I am speaking of course of the one and only Jacob Hester, rb/h-back/ fullback from LSU (geaux tigers) I think he can be as good or better than Brad Smith. is dilemma is that he is not a specific fullback he is to small and wont be able to slow a linebacker down fast enough which makes his, and point of emphasis, FULLBACK stock go lower. Also as a full time HB he is just not fast enough to qualify for that. But as utility guy his stock is off the chain. I watch a lot of LSU football and I can say this is a great leader to have on your team he plays hard and gritty I think he is the Kevin Faulk (fyi both went to LSU) I think he is versatile has great hands as a running back he just the kind of guy the Jets need he is a late round steel (if the pats get him I think I might cry) I think he is not as speedy as Welker but man I think he could aggravate the hell out of someone I think we have seen how effective a guy like faulk is on 3rd down where he just runs a hook out of the backfield and gets a first down. I think this just the kind of guy the jets need to help the offense he wont be wow but he is healthy and I think he can contribute significantly to the offense. some video footage to sway you http://youtube.com/watch?v=PRJczt7YZF4&feature=related (showing his strength) http://youtube.com/watch?v=rWHRwt6ucmc&feature=related (versatility) Thoughts?
I like Hester almost as much as I liked Brian Leonard last year. He'll go to high for us though. We have too many needs to use a pick on a 'tweener fullback/running back.
