A lot of what has been said around here after the way we finished this season is completely true. I saw something in a post earlier today which sums up how I and many other Jets fans feel. There may be a lot of us that feel unsure about the Mangini firing. We know it had to be done after this kind of finish but we are not sure how we got to this point. After the Titans and Patriots wins we were on top of the world. I hate media predictions but we were being considered for the Super Bowl. How did we fall so far? What happened that made us go from a legitimate playoff contender to the situation we are in right now. We could lay it all on Mangini and blame him for this collapse. I would not blame any Jet fan for doing this. We could also blame Favre and his 22 interceptions. However, people may disagree with this, but Favre's play in the beginning/middle of the season also helped us win many games. He was terrible down the stretch and deserves everything he is getting. Honestly, I don't know where to lay the blame. Some goes to Mangini and some goes to Favre. How about the pass defense that allowed all these bad teams to kill us through the air? I really don't know where to turn in blaming people for this collapse. I made a post after the Raiders game when everyone was gloom and doom talking about how we had a legitimate shot at an AFC East title. I believed then and I believe now that we will have that shot in the years to come. I know that 2009 is another year and another chance for us. And honestly, I cannot wait. I will never denounce this team as long as I live because I love watching the Jets on Sundays. I will keep my name on that season ticket wait list in hopes that I will at some point be able to get tickets. (and afford them) 2009 is another year and we have a busy offseason ahead of us. No matter who is hired as coach we will always run into problems. Hopefully we can stay strong as a fan base while the organization we love works their hardest to bring us a Super Bowl. I look forward to the off-season talk around here.
