Some of the biggest things I remember are off the field type stuff, Scott's post game and Herm's "you play to win the game". But I guess besides that, recent ones have to include: Greene's TD run in Foxboro: Biggest Jets win recently and stiff arm was nice and everyone going crazy Folk's kick in IND: You could hear a pin drop and Folk's yell can be heard through your TV Brien winning and losing playoff games back to back weeks, choose a kick. Moment wise, those are probably the biggest because playoffs are usually more memorable than non playoffs. Jumbo is probably my choice though. Still a historic game that is reference whenever MNF gets out of hand and then they cut to that clip and talk about the game.
We still won the game at the end of the day. Just watching the team enjoy the score all together was great along with the Brady Face. You can't take that away.
Don't know if it has been mentioned, but I loved the play when Greene broke through the line against the Chargers and ran right over the LB to take it to the house. That was fuckin awesome! Back when Greene complimented Thomas Jones
What about Thomas Jones 4th and 1 run in the 09 playoffs to seal the game. "TJ, RUN OUR PLAY"-Rex Ryan
I gotta pick Chad's forced fumble & TD against Marino in '98. I met Chad on the LIRR a few years ago and he told me everything that led to that play, along with his football-life story.
Martin to Chrebet in the 20o0 game against Tampa Bay will probably always be my most memorable play. Watching it in a bar in New York was the single best football-related experience in 30 years of watching the Jets. Everything that went into making that catch special - the Meshawn trade, his endless taunting and press conferences and belittling of Chrebet, then the fact that the Bucs had the game won, only for the Jets to mount a comeback, plus Meshawn only making one catch for one yard, then Chrebet making a spectacular catch and the look on Meshawn's face afterwards, the crowd in the bar chanting '4-and-oh, 4-and-oh!' - make this unforgettable. Honourable mentions to the O'Brien TD pass to Walker with no time left to force overtime against the Fins in '86 and the O'Brien-Toon hook-up to beat the Giants in '88.
That was the old Rex Ryan. Not afraid to make the right call, playing the odds for the bold 4th down decision. The version of Rex Ryan we have now would've taken a delay of game penalty there to make for an "easier punt" and then punt allowing his defense to try and stop the Chargers from getting into field goal range.. and the game would probably go into overtime.
Steelers: immaculate reception in playoffs Harrisons 100 yd INT return in the SB Holmes' game winning catch in the SB Cowboys: Staubach hail mary in the playoffs Aikman bomb TD in NFC title game Bob Lilly sack in the SB Yeah- I'd say you are right. at least we got Buffalo beat. Look at these hilarious nominees for their most memorable plays: Wide right to lose the SB Music City Miracle to lose embarrassingly in playoffs Don Beebe forcing a fumble in the SB (a game they lost 52-17 anyway)
Referring to the Shula "Rules Committee" Bowl? Guess he never got over the Atkinson/Beverly tip-and-pick himself. Looking ahead, how's klepto Jameis Rapesburger 2.0 shaping up this year?
You're right. It may not have been a "play" but that image of Namath holding his finger up is THE defining image of the Jets.
Doug brien missing 2 clutch field goals against the steelers in the playoffs I believe in 2006 when chaddy chad was our qb...I swear that was our year to finally make it back to the Super Bowl...I remember I was watching that game with my dad and we looked at eachother like this franchise is cursed...
That's the defining image we want as fans. The positive defining image of the Jets. Unfortunately, 45+ years of this organization choking and/or shooting themselves in the foot in big moments gives this organization a different image amongst football and sports fans in general. Suffice to say.. People coming up to me at bars when I am wearing Jets gear aren't mentioning the Namath finger wave.
My favorite moment everr!!! ShonnGreene made them boys go night nightt !! Rex running (or whatever u call it) to the end zone was great, fuck the penalty flag for celebrating. POETIC JUSTICE !
Lol Greene putting NE to sleep is by far my favorite moment. When people today think of this team, though, they think of the butt fumble. It's sad.
