Lets be honest, well Pace and Thomas are good at helping stop the run to the inside its pretty apparent that they can't stop runs to the outside.

Do we think Maybin will ever become a fulltime OLB for us in the near future?

I thought Thomas didn't play most of yesterday. Didn't he come out real early. I didn't see him out there but I could have just missed him.

i haven't seen anything in maybin to think he can play any run. Fast? Yes. Shed blocker, i'd say probably not. but what do i know.

Yea I think LB is our next target in the draft. RB or LB round 1. With the way we like to draft defense it will probably be LB. Scott Pace Thomas are all getting old and we need to get some young bodies in there.

I thought this was why we drafted Demario Davis?

While Davis will get snaps at OLB this year, his future role will be playing ILB next to Harris.

He looks a bit small to play the Ted backer role that Bart Scott plays.

If Davis is a full time starter, the Jets would be running a base 4-3 defense, not a 3-4

Did davis play yesterday? He is suposed to be as fast as they come. I don't remember seeing him in there. They have said that the TED role is eventually where they see him. At first I thought like you that he is light for the spot but lately I have been thinking (from watching scott) that some speed in the middle would help out alot.

I expect OL & LB to be 2 possibly 3 of the 1st 3 draft picks next year, depending how the chips fall.

Unless a Trent Richardson quality RB somehow falls I cant see us going anything other than OLB next year in the draft (this is all based on no OL injuries and Hill proving that Sunday wasn't a fluke).

Demario davis will replace bart scott by next yr and has ability to rush the edge in some packages.

That being said I see him as a contributor. Dunno about the bonafide edge presence teams gameplan for and wont be liability in run defense.

But your right davis was brought in here to be a complete LBer.

I think the OP is alluding to us needing a star outside presence ala Ware/Mathews.

Which is what 31 other teams are looking for but the only thing this defense is missing aside from better coverage from the safeties.

They are the same height and their bio sheets show Bart Scott having a weight advantage of a whole 6 pounds.

Our draft picks should be RB, then LB, then a lineman. We need an explosive back because sometimes watching Greene is painful but back to the topic

Davis if he can fill out a bit and become better skills wise, he could be a pretty good OLB

That why I said he looks small. The first time I saw him on the field in preseason, I thought he was a safety. Maybe he'll work out in the middle, but he doesn't seem too imposing as far as his frame goes.

players tend to add weight when coming into the league, well everyone besides Maybin

He's 6'2 235 so i can see him getting to 240-245, remember he was a 3rd round pick he'll take a year, look at Kenrick Ellis after a year in the system

  20. He's too tentative mentally at this point. He's got alot of natural ability..but like you said he needs alil time with the weights & classroom.

I don't think the issue at LB is so much OLB mobility as it is BT staying healthy & back-ups not being able to set the edge weakside(Same problem last year after BT got hurt).

Scott is still a great downhill player..but sideline to sideline he is severely lacking, That doesn't help matters against speed RBs. Getting Pouha back will help..2 gapping & protecting LBs is his specialty. Ellis is more about penetration.
