Has been solid all season, but he was great yesterday. He blew up a couple run plays and penetrated pretty often. Mo is only 21 and is already a solid starter. He's going to be a really good one.
So far he has been quite impressive. He doesn't seem to lose ground at the point and has some moves to be blockers. He looks like he can be a dominant force on the line and I think is doing better than what we would have gotten from Shaun Ellis.
Thank you for bringing up something positive to suspend the pain a little. We can expect a lot from Mo in the coming years. He's been Terrific. BTW, has Kenrick Ellis been active at all this season? I thought he looked decent in the preseason, and would be playing.
Wilkerson has been great so far.. especially considering he came out a year early and faced inferior competition in college. He has a very high ceiling, I expect a lot out of him. As for Ellis, the coaching staff obviously likes Marcus Dixon a lot and there are really no spots open for him to play, except for an occasional goalline situation. When they got with a big set, DeVito plays inside with Pouha, so Ellis would pretty much be a wasted roster spot on game day.
Thanks for the explanation. My follow up thought would be, I thought Rex wanted to rotate numerous guys along the line this season - more than he had in previous years. maybe we'll see him more as the season progresses.
Wilk has been doubled, and a couple of times triple teamed so far this season. He'll be a mainstay on this defense. I was a Cameron Heyward fan way more than I like Wilk, so I'm happy that he panned out.
He has been, there is a constant rotation among the D-line. I think it is fine that Ellis is being brought along slowly. Many quality NT's start there careers off from the bench. The D-line is the least of the concerns atm. Wilkerson has been very good so far. Can't complain over that draft pick.
He looked very good last night...really strong hands and disrupted several plays. I think with Ellis, he needs to be on the NFL weight-lifting program for a full year, I suspect next year we will barely recognize him. This happened with Wilfork too, he was not nearly as HUGE as he is now when he first came out of Miami. Year 2, and even more so year 3 for NTs are a good indication of what a NT will stack up to be.
Good point. This position may be the one area where we actually upgraded and got younger since last year's team. We really need this draft pick to work out and it looks pretty good so far.
