This will probably kill off any use for baseball tonight, lol I wonder if this will work as well as the NFL Netwok
It depends on how many people get the channel. On DirecTV it's channel 213 and you don't have to special order it. I don't think DISH Network carries it. I don't know how many cable companies carry it. Many people won't have a choice and will stick with Baseball Tonight. For those who have the choice, it'll be like what we do on that final weekend in April- watch the NFL Draft on ESPN or NFLN or go back-and-forth.
It sounds like MLBN will air old games more often than NFLN does. They replayed Game 5 of the 1956 World Series and included old commercials. The NFL Network simply does not show enough old games. They also rarely go to the NFL Films vaults and when they do it is usually at an obscene time like 4am.
I love the 1956 Game 5 presentation. They are going to keep doing these which is great. So far it looks like the channel will be good to watch.
I wonder if MLB Network's wide availability will prompt the NFL to rethink its strategy regarding NFL Network? For a league that dominates sports like no other, the NFL's own network (and the games that are on it) is amazingly below the radar, since so few people actually get to see it.
Channel 783 for Time Warner NY. If they want more people to watch this channel they ought to show more Classic games of the 50s and 60s.
the channel is really good, i cant wait to see that show prime 9....where they countdown the 9 best things in baseball, like teams, players, etc.
As of December 2008, no announcements have been made about MLB Network availability outside the U.S., particularly in Canada, home of the Toronto Blue Jays. Network officials have been in contact with Blue Jays owner (and Canada's largest cable company) Rogers Communications about making MLB Network available in Canada, but have emphasized that a deal is not imminent.[5] In August 2008, Rogers secured CRTC approval for a Canadian digital channel tentatively called "Baseball TV",[6] which has not yet launched. This license could be used to launch a Canadianized version of MLB Network, similar to the current Raptors NBA TV. Alternatively, MLB and a sponsoring cable or satellite company (such as Rogers) could seek separate CRTC approval to import the U.S. channel directly, as has been done with NFL Network. fuck that sucks
