That dude is a headcase. Sucks for him, but he's got to get his head on straight.

I heard Mike Tirico talking about this on ESPN radio today. It was apparently a pretty bizarre situation, and the belief of many who were there was that the umpire went out of his way to provoke Bradley (an admittedly not difficult thing to do).

Bradley has actually had a good year for San Diego, so this presumably helps the D'Backs and Phillies (and even the Mets if they falter and fall behind the Phillies).

No doubt this will be painted as the psychopath Bradley going nuts again but from what I've heard about this incident the umpire is the one at fault. These guys are absolutely out of control and something needs to be done about it. Reportedly the umpire called Bradley a "piece of shit" among other things.

Aren't these guys supposed to walk away/ignore players and not instigate things?

Wow, I heard the ump antagonized the situation, but to call someone a POS? That's a bit ridiculous. If this is the case, then the dude needs to be suspended a game for every day Bradley misses. Headcase or not, you don't pull that crap as an umpire. As you said, it's his responsibility to walk away. You don't like the way a player is talking to you, you eject him, end of story. You don't call him a piece of shit.

Officiating in every sport is getting bad.

Apparently he also said something that "smacked of racial overtones". If you watch the video, the first base coach was going to get in the umps face before Bradley even made a move.

Todd Helton needs to grow a pair and tell people what was said during the incident at 1st base.

Yeah, really. Though I understand his concern: He's afraid the umps will take it out on him. An overhaul of the whole system wouldn't be a bad idea.

No need to put Helton in the middle of this. He had nothing to do with it, SD is in the same division, he just stay clear. Though for selfish reasons, I do want him to say what happened.

I feel bad for Bradley, this looked like the umpire's fault the entire time. You can see Meachem walk over to the umpire first.

I feel bad for Bradley and I hate to see anyone get hurt, especially like that. But there aren't many other people that something like this could happen to. When he was on the Dodgers he ended up in the crowd between innings once, going at it with a fan and throwing shit. He could have easily gotten hurt badly that time, too.

If the umpire antagonized the situation you feel bad for him but at the same time you think as a man he should of realised one thing:

    1) His team are in a race for the play-offs to getting himself in trouble at this point is not helping.

The umpire got out of hand only after Bradley responded to a fan in the stands. As a professional, you just don't respond to the fans, especially during a game. And this isn't his first time doing it. I'm still going to fault Bradley for this no matter what the ump or anyone else said. You don't set examples by being a psychopath. Every athelete has the fans say things. If your gonna lose your temper, deal with the consequences.

Actually, all Bradley did was point out a fan that was taunting THE UMPIRE.

People want to find a way to put blame on Bradley because of his past and his reputation, and the way he reacted certainly doesn't help, but it's 100% clear that this is the fault of the umpire.

Even being the fault of the umpire Bradley's reaction was immature and has put a burden on the play-off chasing Padres.
