While we don’t have the current 2012 cap as of yet and we have lots of holes to fill, Mike Tolbert is a guy I would love to see in Green and White. A high character guy and a bowling ball of a runner (5’9” 243lbs), Tolbert is an excellent blocker and pass receiver. He would undoubtedly add a dimension to this offense that we currently do not have. Combine him with Greene and the occasional Joe McKnight toss/sweep and this team could have one of the elite backfields in the NFL. He is 26 years old and has relatively low miles (341 carries in his career averaging 4.1 YPC). While I doubt we sign this guy, because of the projected lack of cap space, there would not be a better fit for this team at the RB position than Mike freaking Tolbert! My guess is he re-signs with the Chargers as Matthews has shown the inability to stay healthy. :chargers:

Not only is he going to want money, but hes gonna want a legit chance @ being a starter.

And considering that the Jets have shown an interest in signing Ronnie Brown (older, beat up, cheaper) it makes the thought of signing a guy like Tolbert all the more doubtful.

Not a fan of Tolbert. He should be a beast, but a lot of times he doesn't understand he can run anyone over and tries to run like a Sproles or McCoy.

Ive been campaigning for Tolbert for awhile, he can be a starter here and him plus Green and Mcknight would be a monster back field. Hes an excellent pass blocker and catcher, which should definitely help out this offense.

If he is available at a reasonable price there's no way we shouldnt go after him.

While there are some similarities in Hillis's and Tolberts game, I want no part of Hillis. I can see how playing for the Browns could be demorilizing; there is no excuse for how he quit on his team last year. Fuck Hillis

When he played he did do good but he wants nothing to do with that team and i think the jets and rex would be a good start to get him going again!

hillis didn't play all that well when he did manage to get in games last year.. he might've had 2-3 good games out of 10.

we don't need a guy like hillis. he flat out quit on his team when contract negotiations didn't go his way. and for whatever reason, he's on like his 4th agent in the past year. i don't know what that means, but it can't be a good sign.

i'm not really a fan of tolbert either. he'd be an upgrade over greene but he's not that good. i don't see how he would make this backfield an elite backfield when none of the backs are even close to elite.

Agree, red flags all of Hillis. Tolbert on the other hand is a bigger version of Ray Rice (dude has speed, power, and is shiffty). SD never utilzed him correctly or comitted to the run (worse line than ours and were always playing from behind). Having a QB like Rivers is not a good fit for this back, he would be a GREAT back for us...

Any good team needs two legit starters to go far in this league. Adding Tolbert would create a punishing combo...throw in a light dose of Mcnight and you have a pretty formidable backfield.

I would be all for this move, I just think we won't be able to afford him...

Agreed. At least he's a young guy. I'm tired of these damn senior citizens.

I don't get the agent thing either. But he was undrafted, he crushed his way to a starting spot in Denver, was traded for laundry to the Browns and crushed his way to prominence, and then went through a very strange 2011. To the tune of 4 agents. Maybe he overvalues himself, or maybe he is tired of feeling like laundry bait.

Madden means nothing and never has. He went through 4 agents and pretended to be injured because he was on a team that viewed him as currency.

He has a legit chance of being a starter here no? And while I think he will demand more money, the market for a #1/#2 runningback in the modern NFL is not high. Guy's like him are a dime a dozen.

We already have an above average power back with OK speed. We need a quicker all purpose back to compliment him.

Could u imagine if we had Greene and the 06-09 Leon Washington now? Damn
