Did you guys catch Mike & Mike this morning? Golic really went off on GM's decision to sit Edwards out the first quarter because Edwards broke curfew ... not for the DWI charge. Golic's beef was that there were two other jets players with Edwards at the time and they did not have to sit out. “We didn’t feel he should start, not for the arrest so much as going out until five in the morning,” Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum said in an interview with ESPN 1050.
Probably belongs in one of the other Braylon threads, but M & M are right. I don't think Tanny/Woody thought that comment out too well before it was made.
I have to agree. I think they were right about 37 seconds of Tanny's statement was fine and 3 seconds was bullshit. The curfew thing is BS. MikeT should not have thrown that in there. Personally, BE shouldn't be disciplined at all. Let the court and the NFL handle it when the time is appropriate.
I cannot stand anything on espn radio it is one big pile of suck on the air waves. Who cares what those tools say. All the haters make me laugh Jets win and they start crying.
Golic can shut his fat face and so can the little twerp at least golic picked us to win this past week though
I agree with them 100%. To say it was because he violated some kind of curfew was ridiculous, and Tannenbaum looks really bad for having said that.
meh - I think Tanny just worded it poorly. If you take 3 seconds to think about it the DUI is OBVIOUSLY part of the reason he sat the first quarter - as well as the timing of it. but people will run with this for as long as they can. Next drama please.
My understanding was that the Jets called back to clarify that comment. I think Cimini had the report that him being out was part of an extenuating circumstance to the decision.
It's done and over with, who really cares at this point? We did more to punish him then most teams in the history of the league have done. I think the problem is all these guys were hoping the Jets would lose so they could rip Edwards and the Jets using a lack of discipline angle and it blew up in their face because Edwards was a big reason why the Jets won last night. Now they have to nit pick because they're initial story was killed. And for the record Golic is also on record as stating he doesn't think there is an issue with the way the NFL handles the retired players... yeah Mike go talk to Conrad Dobler and see if he feels the same way. The poor guy can't even walk and then Golic as a former player has the gall to say the current system is fine. Fuck him.... freaking ESPN sellout.
In other news, the Jets lead the division after a 31-23 defeat of the Gaysharks on the road. And nothing else really matters.
His quote should have been that Braylon was being benched for having D'Brickashaw in his car. That's something we'd all understand.
I'm tired of this Braylon crap. Can't they talk about something else? Even Buttle was getting annoyed hearing about it on the post game. Then a caller and La Greca complain about Braylon doing a dance after his TD. That he shouldn't have done it after what happened, blah blah blah. You know Francessa and Michael Kay will be complaining about that today. Bleh.
Look can we just agree that the issue here was not only the DUI at 5:15am during the season? The issue was also Braylon Edwards playing out of control on the field and affecting the Jets negatively at times this season. The issue was also Braylon Edwards being out late drinking with his teammates. The issue was also Braylon Edwards being out late drinking with another player the same night that that player killed a man while DUI. This whole thing about other teams not taking action against players has to be looked at in the context that all the offenses occurred. Braylon Edwards is as out of control as any important player the Jets have had in many years now. If there's any hope that he can remain with the team after this season it rests largely on the Jets ability to get him to bring himself back under control. Given his history I doubt this will happen, and I just hope that his crackups both on the field and off don't affect the Jets too badly before he is gone.
i'm tired of hearing it, but the NFLPA would start issues with the jets if they didn't play braylon becuase of the DUI. its an NFL rule they can't suspend or deactavitae him and even if they cut his playing time for it they can still come down on the jets. so by MT saying it had nothing to do with the DUI and it was becuase he broke curfew they NFLPA can't do anything about it
