The Jets are signing players that have toughness, character, and are IN THEIR PRIME!!! Loving the signings so far. Mosely a complete surprise to me. Williams has got his defensive QB now, and with Barr aboard, our LB unit has gone from weakness to strength! We now have the ability to trade down and get more picks, as our cap room is starting to disappear and we still need to fill out the roster. I would trade down, and now concentrate on OL, DL, and CB in the draft. I would try and sign Tevin Coleman, and resign Henry Anderson and maybe DL Robert Quinn. The Jets are gonna be completely different this year, and AGGRESSIVE on both sides of the ball. I love it!!!
AGREED with this post!!! Sign Paradis and go cheap at RB (Coleman?). Re-sign value FA such as Henry Anderson and Mo Claiborne and get some cheap talent / depth. Let's also keep our K. Trade back in the draft to get more picks, draft Jonah Williams in the 1st and stockpile on offensive weapons and speedy edge. We need skill and speed. Then, let's hope Darnold develops into a good QB and we are SET. I haven't been this excited since the Rex Ryan era!!!
One has to think that if the Jets make a few more good signings and hit on the draft that the Jets will finally be able to give the Patriots a run for their money.
Is Moseley official? I haven't seen anything to indicate that he is. I have no complaints with your starting a new thread, but they are certain come any second now...3...2...1
IMO Jonah Williams is not worthy of taking as high as he will go. He will be only an average LT, and will command too much money as an OG because of where he will be drafted. I'd rather draft Taylor, Dilliard, Reisner, Little, Lindstrom or other OL than Jonah Williams.
I think this is a big reason why we are signing the guys we are. Finally going to clog the middle up with elite defensive talent.
If Belicheat was waffling about whether to stay on once Brady retires, we may have made his decision for him with our offseason! LOL
As I've said in other threads, we still need to draft better or this will end up similarly to the 2009-2010 teams that made it to the AFCC game, but started to fall apart from 2011 onward.
With the Mosely signing the Jets definetely pushed the boundries of the ILB market. But as everyone said, he is in his prime and was a Ravens team leader. Those type of guys SHOULD be compensated well. And in the end its only maybe $2MM above current market. One thing to consider is other than this payout the Jets are nowhere near paying top of the market for any other position. The expensive positions like LT, where top contracts like Nate Solder are approaching $16mm per year and Beachum is at $8mm. The Jets have NO edge rushers, where many teams have contracts of $20MM. Our wide receivers are getting paid $9MM when ODB is at $18mil. TE's like Kelce are paid $10MM where Herndon is less than a million. Top RB's are $14MM and Crowell was at $4MM. Point is, the Jets are nowhere near breaking the bank and should be very comfortable with the contracts they have given out so far.
For those worried about how much we are spending, rest easy. Due to Macs draft record we don’t have a lot of quality home grown talent that will need paid soon.
Actually, that's something to worry more about, not less, because if the players he has drafted don't develop, then we'll just be spending big again next year in FA.
