I was watching channel 60 last night (the Mets channel) and Adam Schein was talking during a post game wrap-up show. I think Schein is a putz but he did have something interesting to say. He said that the jets will be either #1 or #2 under the cap next year and M. Turner is a restricted free agent. He also said that he knows for fact that Brian Schot. and Turner have an "amazing" (his words) relationship from their days in SD. He believes the jets will be making a big run on Turner based on these two factors. Similar to L. Jordan in that Turner has to leave SD to get that chance to start and SD cant pay him big money to backup the best RB in the game. (who never gets hurt).

Could he be a jet? i know weve already talked about him alot but it is interesting. he will be a RFA i think, and i dont wanna even think about giving SD a one or a two. 3rd yes. im pretty sure were gonna draft a rb in the draft and this could possibly make it easier.

    just a thought..

I wouldn't want to do it for a #1 of #2 but I would like to give him a shot. I was against it earlier in the year but as the weeks have gone on I am starting to think that we need to find our back for the future somewhere. Turner has proven himself in a backup role and would be a good addition if we don't overpay.

the announcers said it perfectly yesterday. if chad has a bad game the jets lose. cause the jets dont have a playmaker. a running back who can break one. turner can. sign him. but i would like to see if washington can carry the load. he has the speed to break one but the jets just dont use him enough. i say give him the majority of the carries for the rest of the season. see what he can do. we dont know if he's the answer. houston is a back up at the most. barlow will be gone next year.

    Thats a awesome sig. MC

But I hate to burst your bubble but the chances that we land Turner are really slim.

SD will put a first round tender on him and I doubt Tanny will want to part ways with his first round pick just to get a back up running back.

thanks. but no bubble bursted. i know theres a slim chance to land turner because of the price. just throwing it out there.

and i would lovve to draft the kid in my sig. i think hes in the exact same role last year as laurence maroney. big fast kid who can be a difference maker.

If we could get him for one of our 2nd round picks, I would do it in a heartbeat. SD will put a first round tender, but who knows they might take a 2nd. they have absolutely no use for him..

I'm not familiar with the restricted free agent process. Does the player's team really put what kind of price they want on him? That seems a little unreasonable...

i think thats it.. i think the highest you can ask for is 1st and a 3rd. but im not quite sure.

also what happens if noone agrees to the tender? does he then become a FA?

I guess it depends how much the Chargers originally offer him...

Lets trade for a player that has never started in his career to carry the load on this time. While we're at it, lets pay him big money, give up draft picks and depend on him!

NO. Michael Turner is famous for that big run vs. Indy's horrible run defense and running over practice squad players in the 4th quarter of preseason.

Look at LaMont Jordan. He didn't start for four years either and he's had two 3.8 YPC seasons plagued with injuries.

michael turner is gonna be the best available running back through free agency or draft. he doesnt play cause he has the best RB on his team. how many times since we got rid of lamont jordan have we busted out a 50 yard run?

Turner was drafted in the 5th round, so therefore, the tenders are:

    Low: 5th Rounder
    Mid: 1st
    High: 1st/3rd.

The price is not terribly high, so you know the cHargers will tender him a mid at least. This means the BEST you'll get him for draft wise is a 2nd rounder.

He has as much potential as any RB we could draft in the 1st round. If we could get him for a 2nd sounds good to me..

I think we should use our first 3 picks as chips for Peterson, however unlikeley that may be.

I think it's just wise too use our first 3 picks to fill major holes. Draft 2 defensive stand outs, and maybe a highly touted RB (Marshawn Lynch?)

what happened to running Leon to the outside? We don't see that too much anymore, and that is where he looked to break one. I would love to have Turner, but at what price?

chances are, Marshawn Lynch will be out of our reach.

however, looking at the teams, there aren't many who will need a franchise RB; most of them are either set or hope they already have one in the making. here are the teams i think will be searching:

    Houston Texans
    Cleveland Browns
    Denver Broncos
    NY Giants
    Cincinnati Bengals
    Green Bay Packers
    NY Jets

some of those teams don't need a RB as immediately as others. but regarding the rest of the league, that's not too many teams needing a RB, so i wouldn't be surprised to see someone fall to us in R2.

    cheers

I think we need to do something to get a true game breaker. If we can get Turner I'd be all for it. I stil think we should keep Houston and use Washington as a 3rd down back. If we can get him then lets do it.

SD takes a 2nd because in 2008 he leaves for nothing

Last time we signed a running back was Derrick Blaylock and everyone thought he would do good things. I like some of the rbs in this years draft. Pittman, Irons, Hart.
