At pick # 6 Jake Long will probably have been selected by the Chiefs or the Raiders. If we move down (or don't) what do you guys think of our reamining options at RT? Some believe that Michael Oher may be the best tackle prospect in this draft while some believe that he is better suited to the guard position where he might play at an all-pro level. Ryan Clady is probably a safer pick but doesn't have as much upside.
I don't think Oher will come out though. His adoptive parents apparently really want him to get an education.
The guys who Ithink will shoot up pre draft are Clady and DE Calais Cambell in Miami. I would be surprised if Cambell is our guy before it all shakes out.
So many things wrong with this post. You don't take linemen that aren't left tackles in the first round unless: it's at the top of a short list of needs he's a very rare prospect The positions just don't provide value. I haven't heard anybody call Oher the best tackle prospect but whatever, he'll probably stay in school anyway. Clady has plenty of upside, in fact, the reason he is rated so high is because of his upside, he's a very raw blocker with poor technique, but with his mix of size and athleticism, he can become very good in a few years. He's the opposite of a safe pick, and is like D'brick in the sense that he gets by with his athleticism, and isn't much of a run blocker, and is why he wouldn't be a good fit for RIGHT tackle
Ryan Clady isn't as good as everyone thinks...as a Fresno fan, I watch a lot of Boise State/WAC football and Clady is a force in the run game, but he wears downs early and isn't that good in pass protection. Ian Johnson and Boise State running game slipped off after Darryn Colledge left Boise. Clady is pretty good, but he should be drafted in the late teens or twenties.
