Culpepper Expected To Be Benched Daunte Culpepper Daunte Culpepper By Scout.com Posted Oct 7, 2006 The Dolphins are expected to start Joey Harrington in place of Daunte Culpepper Sunday. Scout.com has learned QB Joey Harrington is expected to make his first start for the Miami Dolphins on Sunday in place of starter Daunte Culpepper, who is suffering from a bruised shoulder. Culpepper will likely be active on Sunday as the No. 2 quarterback. Harrington was acquired from the Detroit Lions for a 2007 conditional sixth-round pick. The pick could be as a high as a fifth-round pick if Harrington meets certain playing time parameters. In four games in which the Dolphins went 1-3, Culpepper has completed 81 of 134 passes for 929 yards, but has only two touchdowns, three interceptions and has taken 21 sacks. He has a 77.0 passer rating. http://story.scout.com/a.z?s=62&p=2&c=576887
It's obvious that Culpepper is playing like garbage, and so is the OL on top of that. Miami has some serious problems on offense right now because of it, but there's still a long way to go before I'm going to be closing out the season completely.... Trust me, I'm not a happy camper these days, and maybe I'm getting what I deserve for having expectations that were too high. I'm still a diehard fan regardless, and I'm sure Saban will right the ship even if our season doesn't go as hoped.... It's good to see the Jets fighting though. You guys didn't get any respect coming into the season, and I always like to see the underdog win from time to time, and prove the critics wrong........... ..........................................Later
Oh, c'mon. I guess maybe you feel you have to say something nice about the Jets so we'd show you some mercy. I'm not buying it. Yankees fans rooting for the Mets now. Dolphins fans rooting for the Jets. I have now entered The Twilight Zone. Do do do do... Oh, and there is this: http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=7174
I'm expecting Harrington to improve Miami, at least a little bit. Culpepper's copnfidence is obviously SHOT, and Harrington has nowhere to go but up....
He's still young, there's still something to build on... Culpepper had nowhere to go but down, and that injury last year just finished him off...
This move actually makes more sense to me than starting Culpepper. The Pats have no film on Harrington in the Phins' offensive scheme, he his sort of an unknown to them in that sense. When a team is stalled like the Phins are, they have to make these moves against a division rival, those are the games that affect the season most. I'm not so sure it will work on the Pats, though.
Wow ! Thanx for the vote of confidence. It's unfortunate that your boys are having problems this year.
uhhh, might as well.....harrington at least gives them a shot and can take hits without a capable o-line....culpepper obviously at this point, for whatever reasons, can't get miami to win
Could be an interesting game. Harrington does not get sacked too often. I wouldn't be surprised if he throws 2 or 3 interceptions.
Believe me we know exactly how it feels to come into a season with high expectations only to see the team play far below those expectations. I do have a slight bit of sympathy for the fins fans, but it's very limited because they're the fins. They took a big gamble on Culpepper and you can't win big without taking big gambles so at least you have a franchise willing to take risks to win. Gotta respect that.
I think this is an awful move. Let Daunte take one more for the team, and start Harrington in a game they can possibly win. He had a fantastic game against the Giants at the Meadowlands while in a De-twa uniform, and that's where they play next week against us. You run the risk of shattering his confidence as well with Belichickens schemes. He'll throw 3 picks in NE, one would think.
