AAGGGH!!! HOW BAD DO THE METS SUCK! I am starting to hope Los Metos miss the playoffs. From brutal relief pitching to stupid base running errors, and a total lack of offense from overpaid overaged lazy semi retired players who don't speak a word of english. I am sick of them. The lazy play from overpaid veterans is starting to remind me of most of the recent NY Rangers rosters. As big a met fan as I am ( not quite as big as a Jet fan) I am really starting to hope they embarass themselves by blowing a season long division lead and watch the post season from Puerto Rico or D.R. When Randolf was hired I was not happy to see a Yankee take over the Mets but last season he won me over. Now his refusal or inability to do any thing about the lazy and dumb performances by his players has his reputation sinking by the day.
Thanks for your input but calm down, step back from the ledge and tell yourself "This is what makes me a true Mets fan...sticking with the team even when they are a joke". If Hubie Brooks could hear you now he'd smack you...and I would too
At this moment in time, I, a Yankee fan, do not hate my relief pitchers. I get angry when they mess up, but it's a different anger towards Billy Wagner, I'm sure.
Yah see, your right on something. Wagner I guess you hate him at times, but other times he actually gets the job done. Heilman on the other hand, is a waste of time. Willie makes a big mistake every time he brings him in. But I don't care what happens in Mets land. I got my Yankees to worry about.
Aaron Heilman is the equivalent to Mariano Rivera this season. Heilman: W - 7 L - 6 ERA- 3.34 WHIP - 1.14 BAA - .241 Rivera: W - 3 L - 4 ERA - 3.24 WHIP - 1.13 BAA - .258
It's not too early to start thinking of next year.... 1st thing they need to do is re sign Castillo and follow that up with finding a GD bullpen
Well at least September is interesting this year.. They couldn't get it done last year blowing away the NL east, maybe this year will be different having to stay focused throughout September and into the playoffs..
The issues at catcher are IMO more important than at second base (pitching is of course most important - starting and bullpen). First base and one of the outfield positions are also questionable for next year. The fact is that Omar tried to get this team up to WS level very quickly, and did a decent (though hardly perfect) job of it, but he's going to have to retool at least half of the team over the next couple of years or they'll fall back into the pack.
It is too early to think about next year. Mets are still in first place and very likely to playing in the postseason next month.
I fail how to see being aggravated watching this underperforming team play pitifully at the most crucial junction of the season means you aren't sticking with the team. this team needs a major shake-up. from players to manager, and unfortunatley only a major choke job will get that done. true fans don't bury their heads in the sand and pretend it is okay under the guise of suffering makes you a true fan -- they demand better. remember, Willie's success as manager of the Mets is unquestionable. yeah, right.
I don't hate Wagner, I hate Willie for trying to make him do his first 2 inning save in 58929512 years. Yea, Wagner should be able to do it but in today's day and age of babied relievers, if you don't do it consistenly it's difficult. The Mets and Yankees should both be horrified about their bullpens outside of Heilman-Wagner and Joba-Rivera. Because just like most baseball teams, the other 5 guys do suck on both teams.
This is not the most crucial junction of the season. That will be in the last week of the regular season if the Phillies are still close. Or it will be October. But not now. Remember, the Cardinals, White Sox, and Tigers all had September struggles and still made it to the postseason and did damage. I'm not losing sleep over August baseball.
