Since it was never clear to me that this was even a good idea, I’m certainly not worked up over the possibility of it not happening. if it does fall apart, it seems pretty likely that Correa is going to have to give up on the idea of a double-digit-year contract with anyone.
BREAKING: Shortstop Carlos Correa and the Minnesota Twins are finalizing a six-year, $200 million contract, sources tell ESPN. The deal has a vesting option that can max out at $270 million. It is pending physical.— Jeff Passan (@JeffPassan) January 10, 2023 Sources tell The Post: Mets were willing to fully guarantee 6 years (at $157.5M) but the final 6 would have been only conditionally guaranteed. So Correa will make $42.5M more in first 6 with Twins. Mets and Correa couldn’t get past the language issue. Story to come at @nypost— Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) January 10, 2023 Shows he has zero confidence in his leg
He clearly didn't want to go back to the Twins, and he clearly wanted at least 10 years guaranteed, so it will be fun to see how Boras spins this as a positive outcome for Correa. I suspect that the Mets, like the Giants (and now like the Twins), couldn't get insurance for a double-digit-year contract. It's more interesting to me that they supposedly weren't willing to go past roughly $26 million per year guaranteed on a six-year deal.
I kind of don’t think that the baseball people on the team didn’t really want him and it was Boras sweet talking Cohen into it and it was up to the team to talk him out of it. If we really wanted him they would have went the 6 yrs but $ amount a hint above Minnesota.
Already have a feeling it’s going to be a super frustrating year at the DH spot. These rookies better produce or we are going to have the same issues as last year.

David Wright debuts on the Hall of Fame ballot next year.— Adam Rubin (@AdamRubinMedia) January 24, 2023 Love David but he isn't a HOF. Who knows what could have been if he wasn't plagued with injuries.
Looks like he has really slimmed down! It looks like Vogey has been putting in the work this off-season. 💪 #LGM pic.twitter.com/mLh9rfZvYf— GENY Mets Report (@genymets) January 29, 2023
