Time to, as they used to say in "Mortal Kombat": "Finish Him!!!" Enough is enough. Time for this year's Mets team to step up, put their cleats in Philly's throat and end their season. Seems like Pedro gave them exactly what they needed. Call it a shot in arm if you want, but that 4 game sweep in Philly was more like a kick in the ass. Go Mets!!
I'm just gonna throw it out there; a sweep knocks the Mets' magic number down to 5. I'd really like to see them grab the division this year and not sputter towards the end. End the season on a roll and bring it into the postseason.
a sweep would be nice but realistically the mets really only need to win one of these games and the phillies are pretty much done as far as the division goes.
this is a great ballgame. david wright is further making his bid for MVP, glavine in spite of that utley homer looking vintage. i can feel the atmosphere of this crowd from my couch. i really wish i was there that crowd sounds amped
another 1 batter situation for feliciano. now, i'm not advocating using show but if you were going to use him you'd think it would be for situations like this.
feliciano gets out of it. interesting note, the yanks/redsox game started 5 minutes before this one and they're in the bottom of the 4th inning. i'm not quite sure how those games always manage to last 4 hours but it seems like they do.
This is one unimpressive rally by the Mets (HBP, force out on failed bunt, steal, infield hit), but none of it will matter if they can get this run in right now.
i'm going to assume that we'll never see a squeeze while randolph is the manager of the mets. i don't know that you'll ever see a better situation for it. the runner on 3rd is really fast, the batter is a good bunter and incapable of hitting a sac fly.
