So what do the Jets do after they spend all offseason shitting on Sanchez and chasing Manningn and Manning winds up in Miami?

They're forced to bring in some retread like Henne to win the job. This is going to be another epic clusterfuck.

Fans don't care about the cap 5 years from now until it is 5 years from now and the Jets suck because they wasted millions on a broken old QB, traded away their young QB to another team where he is thriving, and have no money to improve the dozen holes in the roster created by the Manning fiasco. Then fans care quite a bit.

I am tired of the quick fix that doesn't work. Build the team the right way - with young players in the draft and a few key smart FA pick ups here and there. Put in an offense suited to a QBs development - OL protection and WRs that can get open - passes on first down rather than 2nd and 3rd and long etc. Build a team that will win year after year and one of those years the breaks will fall the Jets way and the SB title will come.

Go for the quick fix and the franchise is doomed to mediocrity for another 5-7 years.

By the way, can you name me one time - one - when a team won a championship by bringing in a QB from another team that was 36 or older?

I am solidly behind Sanchez and want nothing to do with the cap busting nerve damaged Manning.

This is funny. If LT said something you liked, you be saying "it's about time someone stepped up and said something"

At least he puts his name to what he says

LT is not even a Jet at this point and is also 100 years old, so who cares what he says?

I have yet to hear one current player say he does not want Sanchez as his QB.

By the way, name me one team that won the SB by bringing in a 36+year old QB from another team?

Did everyone forget Mangold's comments already?

He was asked if he wanted Peyton? He said yeah if Montana is 100% healthy I would rather have him. Just because one player said he would like a healthy Peyton Manning is a non story.

This is just another non-story. What team in the league that doesn't have a top 10 QB WOULDN'T want a healthy Manning as their QB. Its a non-story. Its not about players wanting Manning, its all about could the Jets fit Manning under their cap this year? And the answer to that question is a RESOUNDING.....NO!

Its all about would Manning consider coming to the "disfunctional drama" the Jets have become, play in an open air. cold, windy Stadium, and in an offense polar opposite to the one he's been playing in for the last 14 years. And the answer to those questions are also a RESOUNDING......no.

In fact all the Manning linkage to the Jets is nothing more than a weak attempt to keep the Jets in the media's sights for something other than another embarrassment.

The reality is that Manning has as much chance of going to the Pats as he does going to the Jets. In other words NONE.....and you all know it, yet servers are dying as more and more Manning threads continue to surface.

Your assumption is flawed in that you assume the team wont keep improving and adding pieces. So, if the team drafts well and makes good signings, in 5 years, the team wont suck.

And again, even with Manning, this team would still sign Wayne and have a full draft. Again, this fills holes.

There are multiple ways to build a team, but what is clear is that you need an elite qb to win. Some teams draft them (the Giants, Steelers, Pats) while others sign them (Saints).

As for SB winners, can you name the last time one of the top 3 qb's of all-time became a free agent? I mean, do Jets fans comprehend that. One of the top 3 qb's of all time just hit the market and the Jets dont have a qb.

I am clearly anti-Sanchez, but if I was one of his apologists, I would never pretend I would not want a top qb to play Mark Sanchez.

Mangold was completely supportive of Sanchez and said he wanted Sanchez as his QB. Montana is a little too old, even if he is 100% healthy.

Rob Johnson? Trent Dilfer? Not going to bother looking up their ages. Plunkett?

How many times did we sign a washed up vet to only get burned in the end? I say we either stick with Sanchez, which half the fan base is split on, or we draft another young stud. I'm sorry, but Manning is a huge risk.

He hit the market for a reason. He had a serious injury. And the Colts are going to draft Luck. Under your reasoning, why didn't the Colts keep one of the top 3 QBs of all time instead of going to a completely unproven player???? Why???? The Colts don't have a QB, but they cut him. Too much money, too much risk.

My question still stands. When has this ever worked? The answer is never. There are numerous examples of a team sticking with a young QB who matures and brings the team to a title but not one single solitary example of an old QB going to a new team and leading that team to a title. There are many examples of old QBs going to new teams and NOT leading the team to a championship. And the Jets are already on that list. Not again for me.

No no and no. Plunkett was 32 when he came to the Raiders and won his first SB at age 33. He did win another at age 36, but that was his fifth season with the team.

I think you mean Brad Johnson and he was 33 when he came to TB and won the SB when he was 34. Dilfer was 28 when the Ravens won.

I know he was, and he said if Montana was 100% he would take him. It is a NON story that a player wants a healthy Peyton Manning. I bet they want Ray Lewis, Calvin Johnson, Ray Rice, and Andre Johnson on their team too.

He is hitting the market because he was due 28 million dollars. If the cap hit was much less, he would not be hitting the market.

It's all about money. Irsay didn't become rich by making bad business decisions. And the risk outweighs the reward. And also, it helps that he can hedge his bet by drafting what is considered the best qb prospect since Manning.
