Wow. Beautiful to see someone call that no nothing piece of monkey crap out. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/03/31/todd-mcshay-backlash-builds/
Mike Mayock for President. I'm so happy someone shit on ESPN's people. I stopped watching Sportcenter and I've gotten smarter. Imagine that? And for the fact that the scout said the truth about Notre Dame speaks volumes. They had no defense and it shows how good Clausen really is.
most people were. But Snead and Woodson are much bigger misses. He had Woodson in the first round for a damn long time.
I agree he is a douche. Love Mayock and have been a fan of Kipers for a long time. I think these scouts and GMs should have bigger things to worry about.
Nice to see Mayock get the props he deserves. He literally is one of the few guys I take very seriously. A)He knows wtf hes talking about and uses alot of terms to prove exactly what the article says; you dont always have to agree with him but you respect his opinion cause you can tell he watches plenty of film and knows how to break it down. When most guys describe why a prospect will be good or bad in two sentences; Mayock will tell you why he likes someone, what they do wrong, and how easy he thinks they will adjust to correcting that while transitioning to the pros. Dont get me wrong, having access to the NFL archives helps; but thats half the equation, formulating a researched opinion whether I agree or not is what he does, and he does it well B)Hes actually got a good sense of humor aside from knowing his shit. If he disagrees with someone, he doesnt go out of his way to disagree, he just reiterates his original analysis and leaves it at that. C)He tends to bring up alot of small school and later round guys that I have my eye on and like myself. Basically he either voices analysis and opinions I hold and discuss myself; or I agree with him 80 or 90 percent of the time. overall just glad to see people like McShay get dumped on and Mayock get props.
So were 20 odd GMs who said he wasn't worthy of being a top 10 pick..maybe that's where he got it from.
Mike Mayock is the shit. Todd McShay is a joke. He's desperate to distance himself from the draftnik pack so he makes outlandish, unfounded claims about quarterbacks. In another universe, McShay is revered because he was the only guy who knew Andre Woodson was a future hall of famer and because he was the only guy who knew Jimmy Clausen was a huge bust. What McShay doesn't understand is that a guy like Mayock looks great for guaranteeing Matt Ryan would be the real deal because Mayock put in the studying, not because he flipped a fucking coin and rolled hard with tails.
I never listened to McShay, I don't even know why ESPN is paying 2 draft guys. Although Florio is 10x's the guy that doesn't know shit that McShay is. Mayock is the best, I think he could pick em better than half the teams. Kirwan is good too, because of his connections. I hate that I somewhat agree with McShay about Clausen( I wouldn't take him with a top 10 pick)
The best part about going to the draft is to scream horrible things at Todd McShay. Kiper's stone faced when you heckle him, he's a pro, but McShay gets shaken really easily.
McShay is so quick to copy everyone else he just goes with the trends that other people have used praticularly Mayock. Case and point, for the longest time scouts inc had ranked Suh ahead of McCoy on their big board, YET as soon as Mayock has McCoy ahead of Suh ESPN changes their rankings Last year when I went to the draft my friend went to get Todd McShay's autograph (he didnt realize how much of a tool McShay was) meanwhile on the side a bunch of guys were asking McShay about a bunch of running backs that McShay/scouts inc had not ranked. This guy must have named like 5 running backs each time McShay looked confused like he had never heard of them before, only one did he actually comment on a player named Also, for anyone who watches the latter rounds on ESPN they dont know what they are missing watching the NFL network (which streams the draft free online) ESPN rarely actually evaluates players past the second round, its usually focusing on the big names round one and then its like "and these guys were picked". NFL network actually takes the time to break down a lot of players and Mayock usually knows his shit for each one, I remember Mayock breaking down tape of Mr.Irrelevant one year, that has to be one prepared dude
I don't know if you guys can see this link, but listen in the background. We do a "TODD MCSHAY, TODD MCSHAY, TODD MCSHAY SUCKS!!" Chant, then he stumbles when we finish. It was great. http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=804788380559
I think most draftniks don't take McShay seriously. He's a know-nothing talking head...which makes him a typical ESPN employee. Oh, and I concur that Mayock is excellent.
I've been watching Path to the Draft every day on NFLN. Great show - Mayock and Charlie Casserly are awesome. They ooze credibility because they work so hard and are willing to admit it when they are wrong. In the past three days, Mayock admitted to undervaluing Bradford and overvaluing Bryant after watching their workouts. Casserly openly admitted at one point that he needed to see more film on a prospect before he could give an opinion on his true draft value. It's really refreshing to see this kind of honesty. Kiper seems to rely on his contacts for information, which makes him a patsy for teams seeking to put out misinformation before the draft. McStay is just a boob.
I don't really like Casserly too much, but he gets a gold star from me for being hated by Belichick. Casserly gets a platinum star from me for reporting on Belichick about taping signals the season before he got nailed by the Jets. http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/sports.../04/belichick-and-casserly-going-at-it-again/ Anybody that gets a reaction by BB like that has to be good people.
