Reported by NFL Network that this is not due to his injury but is over a disagreement about the injury... Listen, this is a must win game for the Broncos, for McDaniels to bench his star player in this game is ludacris and someone should override his decision.
I like your spelling of "ludicrous". But yeah, that's a bit of a shocker. I'm betting that Marshall wasn't going to play with his injury anyway. At least McDaniels didn't pull a Brad Childress and give in to the demands of his players.
Yeah, this one is not going to reflect favorably on McDaniels. I don't care if Marshall complained and whined about his injury. As the head coach, your main goal is to give your team the best chance to WIN the game. Having Marshall play gives your team that chance. His decision to go forward without Marshall is not a good one. Maybe Marshall wasn't going to be able to play anyway but you don't come out and bench him two days before the biggest game of your season.
brandon marshall with one hand is better than everything else they have on their roster at wr combined. awful move if he could have gone.
McDaniels is used to being criticized for his decisions, but nobody thought this team would win 5 games, much less that they'd have a shot at the playoffs in week 17. I think he has the lockerroom and those that don't want to conform are gonna be out. BTW, they played their best football the first 6 weeks, with marginal contribution from Marshal.
And nobody thought they'd have a chance in hell of missing the playoffs after starting the season 6-0. It doesn't make it any less egregious of a decision by him not to play his best offensive player if he's able to play.
Matbe what's egregious was Marshall's attitude. McDaniels was flamed and ridiculed the whole offseason, but he sticks to his guns. In the long term it will work out for him I think.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/sh...t=Aj9MSZZ6v3WYy7.HGADzI7ZDubYF?urn=nfl,211405 Marshall was caliming an injury was going to keep him out and McDainels benched himi for not playing through the injury. Sounds silly and possibly sets a bad standard for benching hurt players. Not exactly the brightest move with the way the league is looking into concussions. If Marshall was smart he'd file a grivence if this is true.
I can't understand how mcdaniels would get mad at marshall just because marshall 'wasn't giving his all', should it be actually true that marshall's injury wouldn't allow him to even attempt trying to give his all.
I can't believe that McDaniels, a guy who's never played high level football, has the audacity to question Brandon Marshall for not playing through an injury. It's even more disgraceful that he's choosing to fight his battles through the media. How can he act surprised at Marshall's immaturity when he doesn't treat him like a man? A lot of good coaches were available last offseason (Gruden and Cowher for the right price, Ryan, Schwartz)...the Broncos are definitely gonna end up regretting going with McDaniels. They probably already do.
