Training-camp postcard: Titans Posted: Wednesday August 2, 2006 11:54AM; Updated: Wednesday August 2, 2006 12:49PM - 3. I think the veterans this team signed in free agency -- Kevin Mawae, David Givens, David Thornton and Chris Hope -- as well as the re-signing of defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch give Fisher five on-field versions of mini-coaches. Responsible, lead-by-example guys. Mawae told me, "This is the best thing that could have happened to me at this point of my career. It's so great here. There's a great team feeling. The Jets did me a huge favor by cutting me." > http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writers/peter_king/08/02/postcard.titans/index.html
I love ya Kevin, but you would have been a headache for Mangini in all of this heat. It's just as well you moved on from the Jets' perspective as well.
He sounds bitter. Yeah, I am sure of it... he is bitter. It must be because he is trying to convince himself that getting cut by the 4th worst team in the league last year and being signed by one of the only 3 teams that were worse was a good thing. If your situation is "so good" then stop taking shots at the Jets and move on.
I must agree. His comments show a certain amount of ungreatfullness toward the Jets. Oh well, he is history now....... It is hard to believe he would be bitter and unprofessional about his departure.
Hey footballgod, is that like a clam in butter in that cup? I was trying to figure out what it was the other day..........the clam was all I could come up with.
I still love Mawae. He was a great player for us, and no matter what uni he wears, he'll always be a Jet. But if he thinks TN has a chance this year, he's dreaming.
This pisses me off. The guy writes a letter to the fans saying how he liked playing in New York, and how he loved the fans, and now he's thanking the Jets for doing him a favor by cutting him so he could play for the 4-12 Titans? Congrats, you went from one garbage team to another. Go crack open a cold one and celebrate. Hey Kevin, glad you appreciate the favor. Thanks for aging so we could draft Mangold. We appreciate the favor as well. Call it even.
He would not have reported yet because he would be under the franchise tag at the prescribed wage. Trust me, I think if he were here right now I think he would be a cancer to this team and what it is trying to accomplish. He would be playing, "What are ya gonna do now, Eric?"
I'm with you. This irked me a bit, but I have fond memories of Kevin Mawae, and somehow couldn't bring myself to tear into that fat-ass cajun, swampwater-sucking, jambalaya-eating, pie-faced. . . . oh. . . wait. . . sorry. . . strike all that. Much luck in Tennessee, Kevin.
...he would've been resting his torn labia and therefore excused from practice. Oh, wait a minute, Herm's gone...
