Mawae goes on M Kay on 1050 and says he would not want to play for Ryan. As a "veteran player" he said he would not want to have to answer for Rex's talk. He went on to say if it's woking fine, but he would not want to play for this team, this coach. Kay called it "the players having to pay for the checks Rex writes." First, does Ryan really talk as much smack as he gets accused of? I don't see it. Secondly, Mawae is an asshole, always has been. Locker room lawyer, we got rid of him because if his mouth... talk about the pot and the kettle. Then when he got cut, at what like 37 years old, he accused the Titans of doing it because of his involvement with the NFLPA. He's still shooting his mouth off, far more than Rex does. Lets remember too that in his playing days with this team, he was widely regarded by players in the NFL as one of the dirtiest players in the league. He was a very good center, but he's never going to be in the ring of honor, that's for sure.
we follow the team, so we're more knowledgeable than the rest of the nfl fanbase about press conferences and hte like. the rest of hte nfl, hears the media and makes their own assumptions. its new york, so things get blown out of proportion, added with the coverage, added with people's own interpretation of the events equates to a bunch of people who know shit about shit but will talk ad nauseam about it.
Rex talks a lot but he doesn't really say anything THAT outlandish. People spin a line like: "We're going into Indianapolis expecting to win" into "Peyton Manning is a little bitch and we gonna go in there and whoop they ass mofugga"
1) No. It's just the media building a persona. 2) Agreed 100% and happy a guy like Mangold took his place, but character & skill wise.
I loved Mawae on the Jets and had his jersey before I ordered my Mangold jersey. Still, he's been nothing but a dick since he was jettisoned for the best center in the league. Grow up big boy.
Yea, he sounded like a real hater during the interview. And like someone said he would have LOVED to play for Rex and this team, too bad those diminished skills and age mean something. If he wasn't head of the players union, noone would mention his name at any time
When Kaye asked him who would win, Mawae had to ask where they were playing. He didn't even know it was at Indy.
This is a guy who was unceremoniously dumped by the Jets, who have not given him a moment's thought or regret since. No big surprise that he has nothing good to say about the team. What I find much more interesting is how the NY sports radio stations love to bring in people who have nothing to say about the team besides complaints about the coach's off-the-field comments and attitudes. This wouldn't happen anywhere else, and is a direct result of having two teams in the market. Everywhere else sports radio would be all about pumping up an 11-win team that is in the playoffs for the second year in a row and made it to the conference championship game last year.
The players voted Rex the number one coach they'd want to play for other than their own, I wish Kay would have brought that up http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1178810/index.htm
where is the video last year of jenkins blowing past him and dropping chris johnson?? mawae always had trouble with the BIG NOSE TACKLES
how about the players playing for the large checks that the jets write? my boss tells our customers that our products will be the shit and delivered on time, whats the issue with rex doing the same?
here you go. wish we had big jenks.hear how loud it was...
