Mawae, Adams meet with Dolphins Mar 08, 2006 DAVIE, Fla. (AP) - The Miami Dolphins met Wednesday with two former Pro Bowl linemen seeking a new team - center Kevin Mawae and defensive tackle Sam Adams. Mawae was released by the New York Jets and Adams by the Buffalo Bills in recent salary-cap moves. Mawae's agent, Mark Bartelstein, confirmed his client's trip to Miami. Bartelstein said several other teams are interested in Mawae, but no further visits have been scheduled. A six-time Pro Bowl center, Mawae is 35 and missed the final 10 games of 2005 with a triceps injury. Adams, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, also missed time because of injuries last season and is 32. His agent, Angelo Wright, said he expects the Dolphins to make an offer.
It will pain be in more ways than one to see MAWAE snapping the ball and then pulling around the end in a Dolphins uni....
Today's Newsday says we are going to make a strong push for Adams. We get a guy that size and put him in front of Mawae and he becomes a non factor.
I think the Phinz chances of landing Mawae are very high at this time. As for DT S. Adams ending up in Miami, I don't think the Phinz will be able to get them both, and if we had to choose, I think it would be in the Phinz best interest to sign Mawae. Someone has to help protect our new QB.... Regardless, if Mawae does in fact sign with The Phinz, this place will probably be on suicide alert until you win your first game under Mangini.... Later...
In all honesty, I dont think Mawae is a great move for the phins. They are in the process of rebuilding their entire line. I dont understand how a 36 year old center coming off of major surgery, will help rebuild a line. I'm not saying the signing wont pay dividends. He will indeed help your line;short term. But long term, they maybe better off either drafting a center or signing a younger guy like Bentley.
Nick Saban understands you only get a one year pass in the NFL. Bellichik, Edwards and Parcells all made serious runs in their second year. Mangini will find that out next year.
In there first go rounds on teams they didn't walk into as big a mess as did Mangini, but I believe you are correct. Ellis
I would hate to see Mawae in a Dolphins uni. The only thing worse than with the phins would be withn the Pats:finssuck: ats_suck:
Sorry, but I don't agree there. McKinney is a turnstile, and Mawae would be a HUGE UPGRADE over him. Hell, Mawae with both arms tied behind his back would be more effective than McKinney..... We're not rebuilding the OL. In fact, our 2004 OL, {the one that was whipped all season long}, was basically the same group we had in 2005. In 2006, we may have one of two changes{Mawae / OT}, but that's likely it.... Right now, C K. Mawae is considered the 2nd best OLman entering FA. I don't see how he couldn't help us, or anyone else for that matter. He'd only be a one or two year fix, but that's all we need until we find someone else.... Bentely is out of the question. Too expensive. Mawae on the other hand will be cheap, and will be likely be looking for a place where he can face the Jets twice a year. We could use the draft to fiund a future starter, but right now, Mawae is the guy we're targeting.... Later...
It seems like every response of yours regarding the Phinz, has "We still own them" within it's context. News Flash : You haven't owned us in years... In fact, Miami should be starting a new "streak" in 2006... Later...
it would be awesome. mawae would be a huge upgrade over the bum from last year we had, seth mckinney. man he was horrible.
If Mawae plays for the fins, I have no choice but to burn my Mawae jersey. Or I could cut it into pieces and mail it to Mangini. How do you cut that guy?
we only saved 1.1 mill cutting him. I think it was more that hes gettin old, recovering from an injury, and hes one of the guys who bad-mouthed Pennington - Not what the new era wants
