With Fitz wanting so much money I think we should kick the tires on Matt Moore. I always liked the guy has a some game experience seems like a good locker room guy. Has been a fringe starter and one of the better backups in the league. Seems like one of the best low budget free agent options. Should be some tread left on the tires. Whats do you guys think?
If the jets can't re-sign Fitz or RG3, then I'm all for giving Petty the starting QB position and let the development begin. His development will give us the same type of starts that Matt Moore and every other FA scrub QB will give us.
if fitz won't sign for under 8M a year they should let it ride with geno and when that inevitably goes south, plug petty in and cross their fingers
Lets inquire about the lefty hefty that wanted to play for us last year. Anything would be better then matt moore
Id be all for that too. But the way this fanbase is , if Petty starts the season and looks terrible in his first 2 games and we're 0-2 , everyone will be screaming for someone different and on goes the vicious circle.
If Fitz is truly gone, Macc will just go with Geno and Bryce. And my guess is well probably draft another QB for depth. That's his way of doing things. If Fitz can get top dollar on the open market there's nothing we can do. Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
If we can't come to terms with Fitz, then we should absolutely look into Moore. we need a vet option on this team. if we end up drafting a guy....great we can cut Geno.
NO RG3! Haven't you seen enough of that train wreck? If a team that gave up three 1st round picks and a 2nd rounder, released him, shouldn't that tell you enough? We already have Smith, and that is bad enough. I really want Fitz back, and I image so does the whole team, but we can't sell the farm for a guy that is 33 and had 1 winning season in his career and he didn't even make in through that season without injury. Honestly I don't totally hate the idea of Matt Moore. If we would have signed him as a backup instead of Fitz last year, who among you would have complained? Fitz had a great year, but rather than pay $16M a year, Matt Moore could be a viable option for 1/3 of the cost. He's a mobile QB and plays the same style as Fitz, but we know he isn't as smart and doesn't have the experience in this offense. Geno Smith is a joke and will be forever known as the guy who got his jaw broken and gave the starting job over to the best Offense this team had ever seen. I would rather start Petty and watch that horrible season, rather than watch Geno ever again.
