Game Over? Leinart Settles Child Support Fight Posted Jul 30th 2007 11:30AM by TMZ Staff Filed under: Celebrity Justice The brutal child support war between NFL stud Matt Leinart and baby mama Brynn Cameron finally came to end late last week -- but closure didn't come cheap! TMZ has learned that Leinart will shell out $15,000 per month in child support, around half of what Cameron claimed she needed to care for the couple's nine-month-old son, Cole. But Leinart's legal battles aren't over yet -- the QB will be back in court August 13 to fight for the right to spend more time with his kid.
$15,000 a month to take care of a kid???? That's two hundred thousand a year! Most families of four don't even make that much!
Sounds to me like he got off cheap; in the event of a divorce for me in the state of Florida, having one child I would be obligated to 33% of my salary which would be handed over tax free to my babymoma. 15,000 a month of 5,000,000 or so a year? What’s that…about .003%? Edit: I think it was 25% for one kid in FL and 33% for two...still - he is getting off way cheaper than the regular guy.
You know, sometimes I think child support payments by rich guys aren't always fair. Now hear me out (and for those who don't already know, I'm a FEMALE) Just because he has made something of his life where he EARNS the big bucks, why is she entitled to his kind of life style just because she had his baby? I totally agree that he needs to share in 50% of supporting his child, but is SHE contributing $15,000 a month? Yea I know I'm probably going to take some crap about that.
Excellent points. There should be a set standard rate that must be provided by all people paying child support. That would surely settle this stuff alot easier. I mean, if one kid can survive on a $600 a month child support check, then why can't Leinart's? A flat rate would be so much easier
If they were married and she had a hand in his success (behind the scenes support, contributing to the family ect), I would feel she is entitled to some form of compensation. But I don't think they had any kind of "partnership" other than having a child together. I think the child support slapped on him is excessive, even if he has it, that's not the point. Wrap that rascal boys, you never know what kind of looney or gold digger you'll have in your life for 18+ years. Just look at what Urlacher is going thru.
