We finally have signed a free agent so now everyone calm down just a bit. Now that we have the first player signed under the new regime...who do you think Tangini will go after next? I think Jon Kitna will be signed next. He will provide fantastic competition in training camp and if nothing else, he is a great backup. He also has experience in tutoring young QB's so if the Jets draft a QB, he will be very valuable to have around. What do you think? Who is going to become a Jet next? Will you be happy or upset with that player? why?
I can't say he is slow or fast, but seriously...when was the last time you timed his 40? Apparently you have done it recently since you said he is old and slow.
I think Kitna will be next. If it's taking this long to acquire Ramsey, the deal's probably not gonna go down. As for Kitna, I believe he's a serviceable guy. Tough guy, cannon arm. He lost his starting spot in Cinncy only because of Carson Palmer's contract, not his ability (or lack thereof). He'd be a very good option if (or should I say when) Pennington goes down (again). If we sign Kitna over Ramsey, I'd be happy. It's a step in the right direction.
The only reason why the Ramsey deal hasn't gone through yet is because the Jets wanted to meet with Kitna first. At least I am pretty that's why...
It's amazing what some people actually post on this board. Don't you just hate it when a silly thing like facts gets in the way?
You don't need speed at every position in a 3-4. Our speed is with Vilma and Barton, and most likely whatever rookie is drafted... Ya know, you do kind of need a big linebackers in a 3-4 to go head on with a tight end or fullback to free up the other linebackers, just a thought...
I think the following 4 will be Jets in the upcoming week... Jon Kitna Kimo Von Oelhoffen Tom Ashworth My guess is thats the order we sign em
Okay first off hes 29. secondly hes slow. Do you think if he was so quick, why were we the only team that wanted him ?
Your happy with everything. Why dont we sign vanderjagt and move him to LT. Youd like that would'nt you.
Matt Chatham was claimed off waivers from St. Louis by the New England Patriots on Aug. 28, 2000 ... Originally signed by St. Louis as a rookie free agent on (04/26/99) ... Released by the Rams (06/26/99) ... Re-signed by the Rams (02/11/00) ... Waived by the Rams (08/25/00) ... Placed on injured reserve by the Patriots (11/22/00) ... Waived by the Patriots (09/02/01) ... Signed to the Patriots practice squad (09/04/01) ... Signed to the Patriots active roster (09/23/01) ... Released by the Patriots (09/25/01) ... Signed to the Patriots practice squad (09/26/01) ... Signed to the Patriots active roster (10/03/01) ... Placed on injured reserve (12/11/02) ... Placed on physically unable to perform list (09/05/04) ... Activated from physically unable to perform list (10/24/04). ^^^ Now thats what I like to see. injured, waived, injured ,waived released, signed to practice squad. signed relased, !@#$%
eh, i doubt hes going to be a starter. hes probably just some solid depth considering mark brown is a FA this year (im pretty sure). we will probably be drafting a LB, so now we can have the rookie and chatman compete in camp to get the best out of both of them, i really think thats the whole point of this. plus mangini has worked with him so he knows what this guy is capable of, so if hes not starter material i doubt he will be out there on opening day
Exactly. From what I understand the 4-3 requires faster players which results in smaller players. And the 3-4 requires bigger guys which results in slower guys (compared to the 4-3) Matt Chatham is 6 foot 4 inches tall and weighs 250 pounds. He probably isn't as fast as Vilma, but he probably has adequate speed to be a decent 3-4 LB.
