Anybody seen this kid play? His stats and scout make it sound like he'd be a great fit (versatile, nasty, strong). After sitting out this year he's gonna have a chip on his shoulder. edit: sorry didn't include any info. DT from UNC. Was suspended for contact with an agent. Was a projected top 15 before the suspension.
Kid is a moron but can play... maybe more of a 4-3 than a 3-4 guy? It all depends on how much the character concerns make him drop...
Marvin Austin can play in both schemes. His motor runs hot and cold - he gives lackluster effort on a lot of plays. I hate that about him as a prospect. However, he's freakishly athletic for a guy his size. He's supposedly been absolutely dominant during East/West Shrine Game practices. He made a mistake in talking to an agent and getting others involved. In my opinion, he doesn't have any "character" concerns...he has "dumb ass" concerns.
The guy has a questionable motor? Eh, I bet they stay away if that's the case because of the Gholston disaster
I think most motor problems can be worked out by the position coach, but there are a small few who never change. In college, even if they are young adults, you still have to watch that line, but in the Pros, no such thing. They are treated as adults...
Austin wasn't anything special before the suspension, I always thought he was overhyped. The fact that he's missed the entire season doesn't endear me to him any more, and I really don't ever expect him to be able to get his shit together and be a good NFL player. A guy like Quinn I could say the year off won't hurt that much, because I believe that he has actually been working this whole time to stay sharp, can't say the same for Austin. If what Mr E said about the Shrine game practices is true then maybe he has been working, but I'll have to wait and see.
