Kerry Rhodes will be here in 2010. I know some of you don't like that but why get rid of him and have a big hole in the secondary when this team has hardly any holes to begin with? Why make one? I'm not doing free agents or anything its to hard to project FA signings at this point. Not to mention this final 8 rule that keeps popping up. Taking the two previous statements into account here is my Pre Combine Mock Draft. Please leave any feedback negative or positive and any suggestions are welcome. 1st: Brandon Ghee 6-0 190 CB Ghee turned some heads at the senior bowl practices. He wasn't really productive throughout his 3 years at Wake Forest. He only had 1 INT but he had 25 Pass Deflections. He is exceptional fast runs a mid to low 4.4. He is a physical CB not afraid to hit people. Good in run support and taking on blocks. Has the physical tools to become that solid CB opposite of Revis that our defense lacks.. If he never becomes elite he will be a solid CB throughout his NFL career. Has ton of upside. 2nd: Eric Norwood 6-1 252 OLB Norwood is a little undersize but he makes up for it in production. He is definitely a player that would flourish under Rex. He is pretty much a brick wall. He is outstanding coming off the edge, Good in pursuit, uses his hands well and has a non stop motor. Hes a team leader and kind of reminds me of Ray Lewis. His 4 years at South Carolina he racked up 255 tackles 54.5 were for a loss and had 29 sacks. He is not very fluid in coverage and is not super fast runs a 4.7 5th: Freddie Barnes 6-0 206 WR I really like Barnes. He is my sleeper in the draft. I will admit I have only seen him play once. That was this last January's bowl game but this kid is a go to guy when it counts. He made a name for himself during his senior year. He totaled up 155 catches for 1770 yards and 19 TDs. He would be a perfect slot receiver for us. His only knack is he didn't face top competition and he isn't very fast runs a 4.6-4.7 Has a ton of upside and could be a big steal in the 5th if he pans out. His stock wont rise too much because he wasn't invited to the combine. (I could be wrong but that's what i remember reading) Our 6th and 7th round picks are pretty much a toss up. Its pretty much impossible to project a pick for those rounds so I'm not really gonna bother with it.
Ghee did have a good Senior bowl week. I wasn't too enthused with 2010's CB group, but a few have moved up......especially Ghee and Wilson. I'm not going to say Ghee is a 1st Rd talent, it's still real iffy.....the Combine will answer any questions. Norwood could drop, depending again on his numbers. Some scouts are concerned about his height and if their team passes on Norwood, they are making a big mistake. IMO, Freddie Barnes will be drafted in rd 3. I would have no issue with the Jets taking FB in late rd 2. I like the players you targeting......nice job.
Yeah, with all the love Freddie Barnes has been getting from those in "the know," I can't see him going in the 5th by the time the draft rolls around. Which is a shame because you guys really have me sold on him. I hope we trade out of the first for more picks.
