Brandon Marshall released by Giants after failed physical April 19, 2018 by Steve DelVecchio Leave a Comment The New York Giants will be fairly deep at the wide receiver position if healthy to start the 2018 season, so it should come as no surprise that they have decided Brandon Marshall is expendable. As first reported by Kimberley Martin of the Washington Post and later confirmed by Giants GM Dave Gettleman, Marshall is being released after he failed his physical. Dave Gettleman confirms @ByKimberleyA report that Brandon Marshall has been released. Marshall failed his physical. #Giants — Matt Lombardo (@MattLombardoPHL) April 19, 2018 Marshall and Odell Beckham Jr. were expected to be one of the best wide receiver duos in football last year, but both went down with season-ending injuries in what was an incredibly disappointing year in New York. Marshall appeared in just five games and did not appear to be the same player even when he was on the field. While he’s just two years removed from one of his best seasons as a pro, when he caught 109 passes for 1,502 yards and a career-high 14 touchdowns, Marshall was due to make $5.5 million in 2018. The 33-year-old simply isn’t worth that much at this point in his career. We already know one star free agent wants to play for the Giants next season, so it will be interesting to see if Marshall’s release opens the door for that to happen.
Too funny. That was literally a day after Marshall said he didn't want Dez on the Giants because they were "Full" at the position and he was the veteran receiver. Jokes on him.
Best day for Dez in a long time. Wonder how many times his agent has called the Giants offices already?
I remember Jets fans losing their minds with Marshall and then Decker being released. Now, a year later, both are free agents after having down 2017 seasons. Interesting. Mac is smarter than people think.
Why do athletes always stick their foot in their mouth! Mouths? Feet? I'm not sure, gotta go on Oxford dictionary! It may be a Rex Ryan thing, I don't know! Anyway, it's called Athlete's Foot for a reason! Fast actin' Tinactin will never get anyone to shut their face! Signed, -Mrs. championjets69
not to mention anderson and kearse outperformed both of them production wise for us at a much cheaper cost in 2017. Anderson is a very underrated WR. if he can stop being such a headcase, he can be a top 5 WR in the NFL, he's that talented
we got like 16 Wrs though lol If we idn't sign pryor i wouldn't have minded bringing in dez on a 1 year deal, but we don't have enough balls to go around right now. Kearse, enunwa, anderson, pryor, stuart, hansen and like 10 others trying to make the roster (including jalin marshall and cherone peake) I'm not sure where dez would fit. plus he doens't play special teams or contribute in the return game
Marshall seems to wear out his welcome mat wherever he goes. I wanted to keep Decker as a veteran presence on a team with young WR's, but Kearse filled that role nicely. Mac gets an A+ here.
