Dickey doing a decent job into the 7th, and also had two hits. Mets up 4-3 as he is now pulled after 6 1/3 with a man on first.

Feliciano coming in, and since Manuel is still the manager, I guess that means that he'll be out soon.

Dickey was good today, but this pen scares me

Even if Dessens gets through this inning, would you trust Rodriguez with a one run lead? I didn't think so.

By the way, Gary Matthews Jr. has been DFA'd, and Santos has been called up to replace him. This in addition to Castillo going on the DL and Tejada replacing him (and playing tonight).

My guess it that Santos is up for a cup of coffee and will be send down to make room for Niece, unless they can convince Perez to go to Buffalo or cut his a$$!

Here comes Rodriguez with the one-run lead. Gulp.

So predictable - Rodriguezz gets two outs, gives up a dribbler, and now walks Sanchez to bring up Hanley Ramirez. And now he throws a wild pitch. He is such a joke.

Wright makes a good play and the Mets win the game, in part thanks to Ramirez not running hard out of the box.

    The home-road split continues.

I can not remember the last time we had a closer that didn't make the game interesting in the end!

It's mind boggling to be honest. I read somewhere today that if we had a road record of 500, as opposed to the atrocious record we've had so far, we'd be tied with the Braves for first, and have one of the better records around the league. This fucking team....

And if they were .500 at home and had the same road record they'd have one of the worst records around. I don't claim to understand why there is such a tremendous split, but it's not very reasonable to only look at the road record as the aberration.

I wholeheartedly agree there. Maybe there really was something to that shit Charlie Manuel was spewing about us at home? Lol.

Either way, it's still fuck this team. I'll feel better if we add another 3rd reliable pitcher like Haren (word is the D'Backs are going to have a firesale and retool their squad), but until then (and as long as Manuel is managing us) I refuse to believe this is a team that could make the playoffs and go far.

Nah there is a chance that Mejia will finally go down for Neise, Santos will be switched with J. Feliciano

I find it hard to believe that Mejia will be sent down as long as Manuel is manager, but I guess it's possible.

And for the idiots in the media who claim that it's unfair to blame Manuel since the team has had injuries, here's another example of his lunacy: he overused Nieve mercilessly, bringing him into 27 of the team's first 47 games. Then, he put him in a completely untenable position by starting him on two days rest, and not surprisingly, Nieve crapped the bed. That was a week ago, and he hasn't appeared in a game since. Meanwhile, Valdes has appeared in two games, getting 2 batters out out of the 10 he's faced; Igarishi has appeared in a game, getting 1 batter out out of the 7 he faced; Feliciano has had 3 appearances, getting one batter out out of the 4 he's faced; and all of a sudden Dessens is the primary setup man. Even Perez has gotten into a game. Manuel is the worst manager I have ever seen at putting his players (especially relievers) in a position to fail.

Mets put Perez on disabled list
    12:54 PM, June 5, 2010 ι By DAN MARTIN

The Mets finally came up with a solution for getting rid of Oliver Perez, at least for now. The team placed the lefty on the 15-day disabled list with patella tendinitis in his right knee.

They made the move to make room for Jon Niese, today's starter, who was activated from the DL. Niese will pitch for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury May 16.

Perez had refused an assignment to the minor leagues after he was removed from the starting rotation due to poor performance in mid-May. He has rarely been used out of the bullpen, with four appearances since May 14.

The team said in a release, "Perez came to Citi Field yesterday and complained of discomfort in his right knee, the same knee that underwent surgery Sept. 1, 2009. He underwent an MRI (exam) last night at The Hospital for Special Surgery, and was diagnosed with patella tendinitis.

"Perez is expected to leave for Florida today to begin his rehabilitation and will return to a throwing program as tolerated."

Memo to Ollie: use knee pads when sucking off Omar to stay w/ team

Check out my post of May 15:

My only question is why it took so long. Presumably because Perez is an idiot.

Nice to see a second baseman with a little bit of pop in his bat!
