I'm a lifelong NY Daily News guy - so I'm most familiar with Cimini. But thanks to Hydro (as Ali G would say, biggie up yourself, respect) who posts daily stories from all writers, Cannizaro seems to be the most pessimistic guy - saying we'll only get a 3rd for Abe. I've noticed in the past too that he's so gloomy - especially during the Herm to KC ordeal, but also traditionally in general.

    What's his deal?

And I have to agree with most people on the board, I like Randy Lange a lot as well. His little book Stadium Stories was "light reading" and enjoyable...gave it to my wife as a history lesson, she enjoyed it.

He is just be really realistic since most fans have a tendency to way over rate players on there team. Just look that Dante only brought a #2 to the blowholes

Coming off of an injury in which he tore his ACL, MCL, PCL and meniscus....

I'd say that the Daunte trade was pretty fair. He is coming off a career changing injury, especially since he was a mobile QB to begin with.

Abe for 3rd rounder is just plain absurd. Do you honestly think any team can draft a third round player with the same amount of talent as Abe? Also, don't forget that on top of his talent, he is also proven as elite on the NFL level. 3rd rounder would be a joke.

You should watch him far for more carefully, He has his own skeletons in the closet like being drunk & hung over in Oakland before a PO game so he to comes with baggage. DC was also a pro bowler several times & as the QB is the most important person on the field then you can see where Canny is coming from with a 3rd rounder for JA

Cannizarro loved Herm. He gave him tons of material to write about, and more quotes than William Shakespeare. That's why he moped about it. We discussed that for days on here.

I'm no Daily News fan, as you can see by my sig.

The article you are referering to, Cannizaro is stating what other GM's have been mentioning. However he was on Cold Pizza and said the Jets would probably have to settle for a second rounder, but mentioned that even that would be highway robbery. Cannizaro knows that Abe is worth a first rounder..

If you think he's really realistic, then you would agree with him that Herm is a great coach?

Alio - what's your beef with the post and NY Daily News. Just curious.

One thing I can't stand about the NY Daily News is Lupica. That leftist nuts made it his personal agenda to slam the stadium time after time. Liek he'd be talking about the Knicks, he's lowball our stadium. I hate him.

Maybe my line of thinking is a bit off, but I believe the longer it takes to see Abe traded, the more his value is going to diminish. Ok, maybe not diminish, perhaps it is his true value being realized through the market. Would it not say something that he hasn't been locked up to a deal yet? Maybe a third pick isn't a stretch.

The Idea of the public funding any part of the Jets stadium is a leftist nut idea. I don't get your beef?

Oh that's an easy one. Plain and simple, I should not have to grammatically correct a newspaper article as I read it. Neither paper is well written. I get on people's cases around here about their spelling/grammar, the guys who work for those papers went to school for that! Even worse, not only are they poorly written, but they are poorly edited! It's one thing if the writer is a poor writer (though how you manage to get a job writing with poor English skills is beyond me) but an editor's job is to read the article and approve it for publication! That's at least two sets of eyes that saw the same grammatical errors, and either 1) ignored them, or 2) don't even know they are errors. That is just sad. It's one thing to be on a message board, and write poorly. Perhaps the person's education level is lower. Understandable. However, a professional writer with poor grammar is just wrong.

The Post is just trash. I wouldn't wipe my @$$ with that rag if I had no toilet paper, and my only other choice was with poison ivy. The only reason for that paper's existence is simply for Murdoch to spew his political agendas to unsuspecting New Yorkers. It's widely considered a tabloid in the modern sense of the word.

I don't really harbor any strong convictions though.

So then make me a disciple...what's your paper of choice? I'll give it a shot...

Actually, I prefer Newsday. The writing is far superior to the News and Post, and it's not nearly as stuffy as the Times. In NJ, the Star Ledger seems to be a pretty good paper, but I have only read it a couple of times when visiting family out there.

Mostly I get my news from either the WB11 Morning News or online. The vast majority of sports news I grab from the various ESPN sources (ESPN News, Sportscenter, ESPN.com, etc.)

I was hoping this new SNY station would be a good source of Jets info, but so far, it's one of the worst stations I have ever seen. Yesterday was their first day in business and the audio was absolutely terrible, and the video even went out!

No. Not entirely. In arguing for a public kick in, you are asking for Up front money against taxes that will be extracted over the life of the stadium....

However, real leftist nuts like Lupica only want tax dollars extorted for pet social
    programs that they favor.

Now I get it, tax dollars used to finance private property for Woody is okay but if Lupica wants it used for his project it's not okay. It's a conservative project when the guys go behind closed doors and figure a return on the public investment for the private enterprise.

There is a fortune of private funds available to invest in sound financial projects. The only reason to use public money is you don't have to pay it back. The fact is the return on investment wasn't there for either the City or Woody. This was proven out by the fact that once public funds didn't happen, private funds weren't brought to the table.

Let me clarify this whole thread for all you logically challenged fans in here.

Lupica is a leftist nut because that's what he's always been.
The Daily News and NY (Com) Post both suck, the Post does a lot more.

Cannizarro has always, always, been a pie in the sky delusional fan posing as a beat reporter. He's never critical of mgmt, the players or the coaches. He picks the Jets to win almost every single week.

The NY media including Michael Fay, Donny Pucks, Dave Hutchinson, Brandon Tierney, Joey Beningo, Stephen Gray Smith, Chris Russo, Judy Boom Boom Batista and Serby/Cannilardo are completely out to lunch.
