he's gonna fall to the 5th because of that as good as he is teams dont seem to value safeties to high in the draft on top of that his injury and the deep talent at DE/OLB and O-Line teams will pass and pass and pass

I would love it if it dropped him to our 2nd round pick but I just don't see it happening. He's a really good player. But if we ever got Upshaw and Barron I would be extremely happy.

... because talk of taking him at 16 should not really have been happeming in the first place. He's a good safety, but not a mid first round talent. There will be much better options at several positions we need just as badly available.

Good thing for the Jets..he would be a nice second round pick up... we have to at least grab one safety in FA..

Wow, the 5th round? I would hope the Jets would take him before then!

I mean he cant work out and safeties usually start going round 3, maybe 1 or 2 go before that. I'd take him in the 5th only just because he's hurt I actually think we end up with Michael Griffin as our FS and move Eric Smith to SS

I really hope we don't have Eric Smith as a starter next year. I love him on ST but not as our starting SS. I'd love to see Barron in our secondary with Leonhard back.

Is this a real post, or am I missing the sarcasm here?

No no no no no. Barron and Leonhard would be a nightmare. They have the exact same play style which is stopping the run and getting open field tackles. Theyre horrible in man coverage vs TEs we'd be getting murder by the pats.

If anything we need one of them and a safety who can play well against man and in zone coverage as well as be the ballhawk type we need.

I said last month that Barron has the injury bug, he always finds a way to get injured. The past 2 seasons he ends them with some type of injury. 2010 was a pec, and this. Only the pec stopped him from playing in a bowl game, but he reduced snaps for his last 2 games this past season.

And despite this, I really hope people really don't think he's gonna fall to the 5th Rd...

The chances we get him on the 48 just went way up.

That would be much better value for a guy that, by all accounts, is going to be good but not great.

Im just glad we dont have to worry about taking him @ 16 anymore.

Nothing against the guy but taking him in the first would just ruin the whole draft for me.

Now it seems like OLB WR or Richardson is almost a lock for us. Still not a fan of grabbing a wr at all, hell I think at this point the idea of trading down is still exceptionally appealing. If we could literally trade down from the 1st to either the late first or early second while grabbing an extra 2nd + 3rd/4th then we could really restock this teams reserves big time this draft

Getting that beast pass rusher likely wouldnt happen then, but weve gotten by without one before, and if we actually had real safeties this defense could certainly continue to be top 5 even without a Suggs/Ware type player

I agree falling to the 5th round is crazy. As long as we dont take him at 16 I'll be ok

So Jets can draft a good OLB AND a good safety this draft? Tough break for the kid, but music to my ears.

Only thing that might be pretty suck is if we have to trade up in the 2nd to grab him.

That would pretty much cripple our chances of filling alot of other needs (more than 1 safety, wrs, tes, hb etc)

I'd gladly take him in the 2nd or 3rd round, if he drops that far. Definitely a risk at 16, but I'm willing to spend one of our later picks on him.
