According to reports, he's staying for another year. Love his physical tools, but I believe another year is gonna help him immensely.
Smart move on Mariota's part. He's got all the buzz headed into 2014 and will play under a microscope all year long as a result. If he just keeps on doing what he is doing he's going to be a top 10 pick for sure in 2015. Now we see what Manziel has to say.
He did the right thing. I believe he's got a long way to go. Didn' t play very well in big games this year.
I think he was one anyway. Unless we trade up or lose out we will most likely miss the first tier of QBs this year.
Yeah, I agree. I think that if Mariota declared, Carr wouldve been picked between about 5-7. Manziel and McCarron are probably our best bets to be available at out picks. I wouldn't be opposed to trading up if it means we get our franchise QB. If we swing and miss, this franchise could be set back many years... We have to get it right eventually.
We only have to look back to 2009 to see the truth of that. I'm starting to get more in the mind set of if we miss out on the first tier, trade back and build depth. I'm not in love with Manziel and no to MaCarron in the first.
If we draft a QB in the first round after drafting Geno in the second round this year I will hit the roof. QB is not what we need this upcoming year. Happy to hear the kid is going back to school. He and Winston will be top picks in 2015
Well a franchise QB has been a need for the last few decades, so... Yeah, we shouldnt try and fill that need if we can.
I guess no more debating for me and you, I personally think its a good thing for him he needed the extra time in College.
McCarron would be a huge mistake. He is a good college QB on a great, physically dominant team. His game day experience at Alabama is nothing like he will face in the NFL. He rarely gets pressured or even touched, he has a dominant OL and running game, and because of that, teams don't play him to pass. If McCarron plays for a mediocre college team, he may not be drafted. It is a mistake to draft a QB from a dominant college team when the QB is not the reason for the dominance. McCarron is riding the Bama bus, not driving it. Pass.
This is why Tom Brady got picked in the 6th round. If he'd actually started for 3 full seasons he'd have gone 4th round at the latest. I think McCarron winds up going somewhere between mid 2nd and mid 4th round.
